Blacksmiths Inn Ninfield
The Grn, Ninfield, BattleWe have visited twice in the last month for a Sunday roast. Plenty of good quality meat and a good size nut roast. 3 decent sized potatoes and good homemade yorkshires. We asked for extra vegetables and gravy which were happily provided. The staff are friendly and helpful. Other options are available if you don't want a roast. In our opinion it's the best roast locally, in both quality and amount of food. I usually cook a roast at home but as I'm currently on crutches we will be visiting more often on Sundays. Well done to all the staff, especially the chef and kitchen staff.

Thai Orchid
23A High St, BattleThis is one of the best Thai restaurants in the UK. I have travelled extensively across Thailand and the food at Battle Thai Orchid is so authentic, served so nicely is a superb taste. From the slow cooked lamb in the massaman curry to the tender beef in yam nuae it is all wonderful and freshly prepared. The take away delivery is also a joy with Tim always having a smile and chat even when all you want to do is unwrap his wife's beautiful cooking.

Netherfield Cafe, Shop + Post Office
112 Darvel Down Netherfield, BattleI went for a long walk today and ended up in Netherfield. I saw on Google that there was a café - open until 6pm. My husband picked me up and we decided to check it out. We were very pleasantly surprised. What a lovely little shop! They even had twiglets, which my mother-in-law wanted for mother's day and which we had failed to procure elsewhere.Staff were very friendly, snacks and tea were lovely and the café was delightful. We will definitely be back!

Battle Bakes and Cakes
65 High St, BattleTried this two weeks ago on an impromptu visit to Battle, and so glad I did! The sausage rolls were amazing and the tea is piping hot. I think prices are reasonable, and having been several times in the last two weeks, haven’t found a cake, bread, or pastry that I didn’t like, and we’ve tried a lot; bread pudding, Viennese whirls, jam doughnuts, chicken and mushroom pie, crusty rolls, sesame bloomer loaf, iced bun, Eccles cake etc.Everything that a bakery should be; polite service, delicious bakes, and I’m glad I don’t live in Battle otherwise I would be there every day and put on at least 2 stone! My partner and I have tried other cafe’s on Battle’s high street and had rude service, so we will be loyal customers of Battle Bakes and Cakes from now on. Thank you!

Caroline The Cook
Keepers Cottage/The Furnace, BattleCaroline catered a dinner party for my husbands 50th birthday, at a AirBnB venue near Pevensey for 13 guests. I have nothing but good things to say, firstly about the food, we had the wonderful Thai menu, fragrant, delicious and plenty of it. Everyone loved the food. Caroline was communicative and helpful from the day we contacted her and this was all the way though until the evening had ended. Caroline and her assistant came and set up the evening dinner for us, her amazing helper served the food and then they tidied up everything. Would definitely recommend, and hope to have the opportunity to use Caroline again.

The Brickwall Hotel & Restaurant
The Green, Sedlescombe, BattleWhat a gem. While some might class the hotel as dated, I’d class it as home comfort. Clean, fresh & comfortable rooms. The staff are 10/10. Had breakfast, a good few pints at the bar and dessert over our stay. As two 28 year olds, it was a welcoming, friendly & homely stay, when traveling for work. Can’t wait to be back.Noteworthy details: A divine residents lounge to relax, feel at home and enjoy some peace and a drink

Beijing Diner Chinese Takeaway
21 Market Rd, BattleAbsolutely lovely family owned Chinese takeaway foodAll freshly prepared and presented with care and prideThis family is from Hong Kong and features an impressive array of regional mainland cuisine. Additionally, there's an option of basic British dishes for the less exploring palate.I fly in to LHR weekly and drive to East Sussex. The Squirrel Inn
N Trade Rd, BattleSuch a lovely experience here. The lady who served us was super friendly and aided us with the menu (one of our party is GF).Great and varied menu with fair pricing. I opted for the Sussex Smokie for starter. Such an interesting dish and despite living in Sussex all my life, have never seen it on a pub menu before. Then went for the Trio of Pork for main. All cooked well.

16 High St, BattleUnfortunately the oven wasn’t working, but not the girls fault! She was working alone during the day in half term which I thought was strange - but she did her best!!Be aware that there is no phone signal, so using your points/ rewards/ costa card is tricky if you’ve not signed up for the WiFi account.Otherwise, clean and friendly costa.
