Had our wedding ceremony and reception here. Every member of staff was extremely helpful and polite, each and every one going the extra mile to ensure our day was perfect. Had a buffet reception and received lots of positive feedback from our guests. Excellent quality food, really good portion sizes and tasty!

A friend recommended this place for a roast, having heard good, word of mouth, reviews. Really lovely place, garden is decent & service was good, certainly looks the part. Pictures on the roast on the website looked deliscious, and reviews on another website seemed reasonable. The food did look very similar to the advertised photos in fairness. I have to echo the other review left today. The beef wasn't pleasant at all. It was served rare as explained on the menu, but was tough in places and inedibly chewy in others. I do normally enjoy rare beef. I'm no fan of red cabbage so only tried a little, but that wasn't enjoyable either. Peas were spoiled with sliced leek or similar, which was removed with relative ease. Carrots were fine, albeit somewhat bland. Yorkshire pudding was spot on! Potatoes acceptable, albeit not especially crisp. I would have preferred more than three small ones. My gravy was fine. Had the beef been good, I would have requested an extra side of potatoes. I don't think I've ever left as much of a roast as I did today. Especially the meat. I normally leave a clean plate. There was no query from staff when they collected the remains of my dinner, as the whether there was a problem. I probably won't visit again for food, unless made aware of improvements. Wouldn't have an issue returning for drinks. I imagine the beer garden is heaving when the weather is nice. This place has so much potential! It should be noted I ate quite late, and had one of the last available roasts.

We visited as a young family for Sunday roast, it was very disappointing. The beef was over over cooked, the gravy a questionable colour and the red cabbage was almost off in flavour. The only good part was the Yorkshire pud. The prices were pretty much the same as you’d find elsewhere in Brighton and Hove for a high quality roast. The Hangleton Manor I’m afraid to say was no better than a Toby Carvery. The venue itself is lovely with a fantastic garden, so perfect for young children to play around. Unfortunately the chef is not good enough to run a kitchen of this size. Sorry.

Came for Sunday lunch. Been somewhere between five and ten times previously, this one a little disappointing. Two people had roasts, one the sharing platter of wings.Roast potatoes weren't boiled or roasted long enough, and the chicken roasts were a bit bland and pale looking for us, a bit of rosemary and garlic woud be nice and a bit more colour. The chicken wings were supposed to come with tempura (battered) onions, but it didn't have any. The younger waiting staff could see, and agreed to bring us some chips as a compensation and so there was at least some contrast in texture to the dish. But then a manager came out and said there were a chives added instead because they'd run out of onions. No apology. But then promised chips didn't arrive either. Left a bit of sour taste, to be honest. If you don't deliver as advertised, there should at least be an apology. You might want to avoid the roast potatoes!

My brother and his family came to visit so I brought them here for lunch as I've always rated Hangleton Manor. Part of the pub was closed off for a wedding - fair enough. My brother and I went to the bar to order food and my brother ordered for his family first. I went to place my order immediately afterwards and was told that the kitchen was now closed so that the food for the wedding could be brought out so they couldn't process my order. The guy behind the bar told me he'd let me know when I would be able to order. My brother's family's order was brought out quickly and I asked if the kitchen was open yet. I was then told that the kitchen would be closed for the next two hours. It was very clear at the bar that my brother and I were part of the same party and I feel that this whole situation was handled very poorly by staff.

Quick pit-stop on a walk with the family. What a stunning place with a beautiful garden too. I'm looking forward to coming back soon.We didn't eat or see any food but my instinct is that it would be very good.

My mother in law treated us to lunch and we weren't disappointed. Food was superb and our waiter was attentive knowledgeable and friendly. Enjoyed my first visit to The Hangleton Manor and hope to return soon.

My other local pub… Great beer garden and a great pub. The staff are always friendly, attentive and professional. The food is good, especially burger night on a Wednesday. £10 for any burger ? Great pub and walking distance to my house.

Visited Sunday with family. Service was ok, not great but the food - especially the roast, was not good value. Had the chicken which was an extremely small portion with some overdone warm veg. For £15.95 this is way over priced for the offering. The ‘roast potatoes’ were 4 baby potatoes that had barely seen an oven. Plenty of other places in Hove that are far superior and probably cheaper than this place. Real shame as it has potential to be a great local but sadly won’t be returning.

Went for an informal wedding reception. Pub was open to public but worked really well. Nice venue, plenty of parking, and outside seating.

Very nice, traditional pub/restaurant. We didn't eat there but plenty of others were. It was pretty busy mid-week, which is always a good sign. Beautiful location, lovely inside - all wood everywhere - and a lovely large garden.

Went for roast dinner on father's day, lovely setting, character pub with pleasant garden. Yorkshire puddings and veg nice but the veggie roast looked unappetising - a slab of grey mush and tasted as expected - no texture, or flavour. Very disappointed. Planned to email HM for comments, rather than post public review but the only contact offered is to call, or use social media.
