Intimate cafe, the food was fresh and fantastic. Excellent coffee too. We bought some cake to go and it was lovely. We had high expectations after reading good reviews and it was worth the visit.

Portland Road is a spoil for quality Cafe's, but this just stole my heart. I was greeted by warm staff who greeted me with a smile and made sure I was happy during my visit. The food and coffee was really good and I will be back to support.

Superb cafe. Owned and operated by a lovely family from Sicily, this cafe offers excellent food (I'm in love with the cake - how can this cake be so good?!) and is decorated - wait for it - with gorgeous art painted by one of the proprietors. This place has such a special vibe, it really is a ray of Sicilian sunshine in cloudy old England. Strongly recommended.

This restaurant was a highlight on a recent trip to Brighton. Food is unpretentious Sicilian - I had spinach lasagne which was delicious. Also very good value bottle of white wine. Giorgio (sorry if I'm not spelling this right) could not have been more obliging - he really wants you to enjoy the food his wife cooks. It's a cosy candle-lit place, almost like being in someone's house. Our party was comprised of both vegetarians & meat-eaters and we all thought it was excellent.Go!

Myself and my partner went for a meal here after reading the many excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. Giorgio greeted us like old friends and remained totally attentive throughout the evening. He is such a character and so passionate about the food and the place, you can tell he really cares a lot about about giving you a great experience. I am vegetarian and Giorgio said that if we had let him know beforehand he would have been able to prepare something specially, however, there are several good vegetarian dishes on the menu so this was not an issue. The food was beautifully presented, with simple ingredients, but bursting with flavours. My partner had the lemon pasta, I had the spinach lasagne - both absolutely delicious. Giorgio recommended a lovely bottle of wine (not cheap, but it was my partners birthday!). The place is cosy and rustic with tasteful decor. It certainly lived up to its great reputation, for us anyway!

Guys, really a pleasant and amazing surprise in the middle of Portland Rd. Warm and friendly welcome. Tastefully decorated, well-kept rooms. Fantastic Sicilian ceramics and colors. A double and comfortable covered space. The food of excellent quality and preparation. Delicious! I tasted different products and the pleasure was immense. From coffee, to meat sandwich, to quiche, to tiramisu. Environment for couples, families and friends. the external part is also cared for and well maintained. At the top of my preferences now. Seeing is believing. Ciao for now!

Delightful dinner by candelabra with charming husband and wife team hosting. We really enjoyed our Sicilian meal in this intimate restaurant and would recommend to others.

A small, cosy restaurant with only six tables. I was glad to be able to book a table. Georgio the host was very friendly and a real food and wine lover. Was able to advise with much knowledge and enthusiasm. The food was almost perfect with just a couple of things that could have been better. Decorative pastry leaf was not cooked through and caremalised onions could have been cooked longer. But these minor points wouldn’t stop me highly recommending or returning tomorrow. Very reasonably priced too. A real pleasure.

We booked Mediterraneo for their Sicilian Wine Tasting Evening and was not disappointed! Run by an Italian husband and wife you will only eat authentic Sicilian food here. The menu doesn't change but why change something that is perfect! Each wine was paired exceptionally with each course and the owner explained the history of the wine and each region the wines came from. Having travelled to most of Italy (apart from Sicily) it was interesting to see how Italian food varies in each region, stepping inside I was instantly reminded of being back in Italy. Really enjoyed the Conchiglione Funghi, Ricotta e Noci ! The service is exceptional and I would highly recommend if you want authentic Sicilian food and wine.

This is an absolute gem in Hove. There's so much love in the food and in the design of the place.

Firstly this is quite difficult to find but well worth it when you get thereThere are only 6 tables in the restaurant and this helps with the personal effects of the restaurant. The owner is really friendly and calls you by your first name. The food itself is quite tasty and authentic. I had the spinach lasagne and the only downside was it was a bit too much cheese .Well worth a visit tho

I was super excited after reading all the good reviews... and everything was lovely but when the food arrived, my heart sank. It wasn’t awful but it was average. The arancinis were over-cooked and bland, the chicken was dry and tasteless, the lasagne only tasted of tomato. Such a shame. That said, it’s a really cosy and romantic atmosphere and the waiter was brilliant. The wine was nice. And it’s not expensive so we still had a lovely evening. I just wouldn’t go back when there are so many excellent restaurants in brighton.

Booked in very last minute to eat at this restaurant. Found it quite hard to find as even the Brighton taxi drivers didn't know where it was (it is technically round the corner from Clyde Road).Meal was a set price for a 2 course or 3 course meal. We chose 2 course as was on a budget for our weekend stay. Our host was very nice and very friendly. He asked us for drinks and must have mis-heard my boyfriend ask for a glass of Pinot Grigio rather than a bottle. I didn't want wine at first but just went a long with it. Throughout the night our glasses were being topped up and I presumed our host was being generous but it turns out we had been charged for a bottle. The set meal for the evening had a good choice of food. We chose to have a Main and a Dessert. I chose the Veal meal and my partner chose the Lasagne. He loved the Lasagne. My veal was nice but would have been worth the money with a better side rather than peppers and capers. For dessert we both ordered the canaloni style dessert which was lovely but quite messy to eat. Our host also gave us a small slice of Tiramisu as he "couldn't resist".The evening was very enjoyable - it was a very very small restaurant with around five tables seating around twelve people in total. It had a very Mediterranean feel to it and I actually felt like I was in Italy. Our only shock was receiving the bill which was around £20 what I expected to pay - something quite hard for a couple on a low budget for the weekend. We were not aware we had to pay an £8+ service charge and I was disappointed we weren't told when booking.
