Was away for the weekend in Winchelsea, and on are way home stopped for Sunday Lunch, the carvery was out of this world, choice of 5 meats,and you could have a slice of each, very generous slices, staff were very professional and welcoming, would go to Winchelsea again just for the Sunday Lunch. Oh and I can't forget the lemon and dill cheesecake

Warm welcome, even for our 2 dogs. Great food and extremely reasonably priced. Will definitely be visiting again. Really can’t understand the negative reviews. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming.

We went to have Sunday lunch and when we walked in I didn’t get a warm welcome, I felt the look I got was slightly disinterested. We sat down and asked for a menu but were told it’s a carvery which was lovely ! There was no one checking if we were ok or wanted more drinks. A family walked in with a young child and they allowed him to listen to noisy entertainment on a device which ruined the peace- then the child was banging a stick and walking around while the whole family were oblivious to where he was or who he might be talking to. ! They must be regulars because the manager made lots of conversation with them ….The girl serving asked if we wanted pudding and she appeared with 3 options for dessert or ice cream that was it. We waited ages to place the dessert order and had to go to the bar to find three staff members mooching around and ask for what we wanted, disappointed, this isn’t the best for service but the food was lovely.

We were visiting friends last night and ordered a takeaway from winchelsea Lodge. It was delicious, fast delivery, pipping hot, good quality, and good-sized portions reasonably priced and a varied menu, so something for everyone tastes very clever as takeaways are scarce in this area I will definitely use them again

saw that the lodge is delivering free on Friday and Saturday so thought we'd have a break from the usual Chinese or curry!! We were a little sceptical but when the food was delivered we were really impressed. Not only was the food delicious the quantity was far more than expected. We had the cod and chips and the chicken feast box, the latter being finished off the following evening. Now pondering our next order ???

Very welcoming from when we arrived, olly on reception couldn’t have helped us enough. Also Lee the owner, was able to get us a suite within our budget as everywhere else was booked completely out. The suite was definitely not within our budget but Lee done us a great offer to make sure we had somewhere to stay. This suite was exceptional! Very clean and the food was fresh and beautiful. A great sleep and would highly recommend. We really appreciate the help from all the staff

Had a very enjoyable one night stay..our room was on 1st floor comfy bed and pillows with view into the courtyard.Lee the owner was very welcoming and helpful...we enjoyed having a few drinks at the bar pre and post dinner.Breakfast is really good with variety to suit all tastes and needs.Thankyou Lee and team we will be back

Lovely place to stay for a couple of nights on rugby tour Electric shower- don’t expect power!! But nice warm bathroom Comfy bed Nice breakfast Good location just outside town Quiet Staff absolutely lovely and friendly Welcoming and helpful

Food was really lovely but service was non existent. No check back on food or offer for anymore drinks. No communication as to whether you pay at the bar or not.Vegetarian options: Really nice veggie option
Unwelcome....took my phone of me and deleted pictures I have taken. I have to call police as they threatened me for no reason. Very upset about all the situation as it came from nowhere ( on my way to leave after dinner.)

Booking.com apparently made a mistake with our booking, so we had to ask for a room on the ground floor. My friend finds it difficult to walk. The shower head was terrible with a very feeble few sprays of water. The manager/owner? was not friendly but his wife was. The food was reasonable to good. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The location is great.

We changed rooms as the first room smelt stale and the young lad on reception resolved it. Our 2nd room was fine. Awesome large TV with Netflix which was great. I wished the room had a fridge. Bed was nice and soft and the room was really warm. The electric shower was terrible. After working all day I just wanted a proper shower but the shower head kept falling down and the shower was just a bit of spray. But clean towels and its all nice and tidy.

The Lodge its self is a wonderful place to stay and hove your special day but for the first picture you show is of a Castel that is no where near Winchelsea and gives the wrong impression . . . The Stock Picture is Bodiam Castle 25 miles away

Nice room & lovely breakfast friendly staff and so handy for Hastings, Rye is just down the road and Romney marsh and Dungeness are not far away , would recommend this inland oasis for couples and families alike
