Pubs in Newhaven

“Lovely setting with amazing views out over the countryside. The staff were very friendly, a lovely welcome, and attentive service throughout. The Roast lunches were very good, probably amongst the best I've had, lots of meat, and well cooked vegetables and Yorkshires. Will definitely return”

“We enjoyed lunch at The Flying Fish. The food was excellent, especially the Ploughman's. My husband was disappointed that the guest ale was off and there were no other Shepherd Neame ales on draught, only bottles. Other than that, it was a good visit.”

“A nice reasonably quiet pub which is dog friendly, great staff, very good prices and a warm welcome from all people in the put anytime day or night. Although they don't serve food here, you are always welcome to have a takeaway delivered to eat inside the pub!”

“Great traditional pub. Love the carpet, and the vibe. Surely, this must be the best pub in Newhaven? I only had time for one pint - a Long Man at £4.00, not bad at all. I will try to revisit on my way back from France.”

“Lovely welcoming atmosphere. I had a Caesar salad which was fine & my husband had sausages with veg which were crisp & tasty. The Ladies toilet was clean and there was a basket of sanitary products & babies' nappies available for anyone who needed them with a notice above saying "Help yourself". I thought that this was very thoughtful and mentioned it to the staff who said that it was the cleaner who had brought them in, so hats off to that person.Parking: Private parking next to the pub”

“We were down on a day trip from London to enjoy the sunshine. Really friendly bar staff and locals - who bought me two packs of crisps just so I didn’t have to queue at the bar again. Pints are really cheap! Rare to find a pint for around £3, especially in the South of England! Lots of TV screens - we went in to watch the Golf on sky sports - and a pool table. Really nice place to watch sport and drink cheap pints if you’re in the area.”

“It's a few years since we came here and at the time were disappointed. We thought food portions were rather small and the wine overpriced.Apparently the establishment is under different management and things have greatly improved. We had a burger with chips and a bottle of house wine all for under £40 for the two of us.One very minor criticism is that the plates were unheated. Nevertheless, the food was hot and of good quality. We will be here again.”
