The menu was varied with pub classics and some fine options. The food was very high quality and extremely well prepared. We were offered good gluten-free options. The bar us well sticked with good beers and we had a very nice family lunch. Thankyou to the staff in the Plough!

We where a party of 10 wine and sevice great the food was just awfull to say the least over cooked and very bland ,its such a shame as its so close to our home how can they get it so wrong . Its not difficult to produce good simple food , don't try to be to clever just serve tradition English food we all want , Great pub just needs some good management .

My wife and I have had dinner in this pub many times before and enjoyed it but last night was very disappointing. The food was very average but what spoilt it was the temperature in the restaurant was miserable. We both kept our coats on throughout the meal, which isn't much fun. Apparently, there was a problem with the radiators but there were very few customers so maybe the owners decided it wasn't worth warming the place up. I would rather have stayed home with our wood-burner. Never mind.

Great pub. Beautiful views, cosy vibe with wood burners and, importantly, delicious food with some unique tasty dishes. Lovely friendly service and immaculately clean toilets (always a sign of a high standard in my book). My partner had the set menu and I had the fish & chips which we felt was good value for money. Highly recommend as a beautiful relaxing country pub.

We recently called in for lunch and were not disappointed with either the service or the food. Both entrees and mains were tasty and generous, the lamb pie in particular. Don’t miss this little gem!

What a lovely place, beautiful surroundings, fantastic food, with locally sourced ingredients, which in my opinion adds to the quality. The staff were friendly and looked after us incredibly well. We met Jane and Alannah they were amazing! We stayed overnight, were given a DIY breakfast, which was delicious and had an evening meal next to the fire, everything throughout was fab. Would definitely recommend.

Very strange customer service on the day we visited. We booked Sunday roast for 4 at 12:30pm. We arrived at 12:15pm. The staff told us we can’t be seated until 12:30pm, even though the restaurant was empty. She acted as if it was outrageous to show up 15min early, huffed at us and sounded annoyed. She said we can wait around until exactly 12:30pm as she was very busy in the garden even though the pub had only been open for 15 mins… She didn’t come back at 12:30pm for us and we were served by someone else who was confused why we were told to stand and wait around…When we were taken to our table we was surprised to find only two other tables in the garden. The garden was not busy. Even though she claimed that it was extremely busy to the point we could not be seated. Otherwise, food was quite good. But the hospitality was not very welcoming and in fact rather rude.

This was an unplanned visit, just dropped in for lunch because we spotted it on our way back from Camber Sands with our four dogs. Good thing: the charming staff made our hounds very welcome with lots of water. Best thing: the food was sensational, all four of us (I mean humans) were agreed. Only slight criticism: the muzak. A place this good needs nothing but the sound of happy diners.

Absolutely brilliant - relaxed rural atmosphere, the menu is superb the chef clearly knows what they are doing with a lot of seasonal and local offerings. The array of nibbles ( try the anchovies they are top notch) before you even get to the starters - the ham and ashmore ( a local cheese known to local cheesehounds like us) croquettes are fabulous. The Romney marsh Lamb pie is quite simply the best tasting pie you will have ever had, and id eat the crispy cavolo nero everyday for the rest of my life it i could. The dessert and cheese of is beyond delicious, try the dark choc, hazelnut and blackberry one its divine. The staff are wonderful, friendly, relaxed, and help to ensure you have a very nice time. This place can match any restaurant in the area and the menu doesn't cost the earth. I could not recommend this highly enough, and everybody at our table agreed i should write this review because it was so well deserved.

Visited this pub while staying near Rye, as I'd heard good things. I had the burger and my friend had the cod. I then finished with sticky toffee pudding. It was mid week and they were clearly expecting it to be quiet as only one member of staff on. But several walk-ins turned up and we did find she seemed a little stressed. Not the warmest of welcomes, but still polite and professional. Food was ok, but not quite as gourmet as the menu and prices suggest and beware, basic sides are extra. My friend said his crushed peas were cold and hard. Fries were super crispy though! Was disappointed with the sticky toffee pudding. It was light as a feather with good flavour, but no sauce! This left it a little dry, as the small scoop of ice cream wasn't enough to go with every bite.Overall I left a little disappointed. But on reflection I think mostly that was down to atmosphere. There simply was none. :(

A fine little pub. The food is adequate, verging on slightly disappointing, but the staff were exceptionally friendly. Good atmosphere both nearly empty of people in the mid afternoon as well as nearly full after dinner time.

Lovely pub. Friendly team and happy to let you add or substitute items as long as they are available. Dog friendly, too. The outside terrace has a great view over the surrounding countryside.

Staff were friendly, prompt and efficient. 2 of us had the roast beef, 1 had the lamb. The ingredients were local and top quality. They were perfectly cooked, and the accompanying veg were excellent, with just a little twist to make them interesting. We will be returning.

As a restauranteur and bar owner I’m happy to write this review. Alana and Jesse are the kindest and professional staff members with an excellent bartender. They couldn’t be more helpful ! The food was perfectly cooked as were their deserts and they take reservations ( we were a party of 8 and a baby) Their Burgers !!!! ( being from the USA ) were the best our family have EVER HAD !!!! We took our visiting friends there too and EVERYTHING was perfect . A huge shout out to their Chef and kitchen staff , wow !!!! We’ll be back for sure ….. Thank you for making our trip that extra special. Until next time …. Much love and Thank you again .

Maybe we went on an 'off night' but having read all the 4.5 star reviews we weren't hugely impressed.7.00pm on a Saturday we expected a cosy village pub but what we found didn't really live up to the hype or photos.Firstly there was a very small selection of beer/ale on offer, secondly the staff seemed put out we were even there and finally the garden which looked nice in the photos with fairy lights and umbrellas was drab and uninviting. We had planned to eat but decided against it.
