Very popular little place with tasty food and friendly staff. I have had several different meals here and all were winners - photo of the scone I had recently.

Toast was burnt avocado was so thinly spread not at all 'smashed' only one slice of bread. Not good value at £10.75Staff did not seem happy I asked for a less burnt piece of toast plus an extra slice and charged me 80p for it instead of an apology! It used to be so good but I won't go back there now sadly.

Popped in for breakfast on Saturday morning. Was seated straight away and chose what we were having. Service was prompt without feeling rushed. 1 kids meal and 1 avocado on toast. Both delicious and really well presented. Was busy but with a lovely atmosphere. Staff are so efficient and there was a steady stream of people coming and going. Cash only on that particular day which could be a problem for some. Well priced and would visit again.

I love the cute ambiance of this small restaurant! The scrambled eggs with feta cheese and chorizo on granary toast is my go-to, and it never disappoints. Despite the inconvenience of no card payments, the recent addition of bank transfers is a welcomed solution. Moved to Brentwood 9 months ago and while having a look on the high street I came across this wonderful place to eat. They have absolutely everything for all tastes. It’s spotlessly clean and the staff are the friendliest staff I have met. I probably go about 3 times a week taking friends with that are equally satisfied I can’t recommend this place enough

One of the nicest cafés in Brentwood with food to keep you coming back.Staff are excellent and very helpful and polite.Great selection of breakfast and lunch item, highly recommend the salt beef sandwich.

Regular lunchtime haunt for me. The seasonal menus are varied, and the food is always of good quality and well cooked. This year's Christmas dinner special is well worth the money.

We usually love coming to eightea9 but left today feeling very disappointed. My girlfriend ordered ham eggs Benedict with extra avacado. The meal first come out with no hollandaise sauce, in which we had to ask. The ham was freezing on a warmish muffin and Luke warm egg. I ordered the 8 piece breakfast. I had luke warm bacon, had to ask for the hash browns. Considering we was the first customers I find it hard to understand how there were so many mistakes and the food wasn’t piping hot. Also, there was no check back on our food. My girlfriend didn’t eat any of the ham and left most of the rest, however the waitress didn’t seem to care about that. Surely if most of the food was untouched there might have been an issue. I went up to the counter to pay and still no question if the food or anything was ok but happy to take my money anyway! I usually always leave a tip having worked in restaurants for 10+ years, but on this occasion I just didn’t feel like it was justified.

Popped into Eightea9 for breakfast and managed to get a table during the busy Sunday morning service. The staff were friendly and attentive. Our food arrived pretty quickly and was well presented. The choice of freshly juiced apple juice or from the carton was a nice touch. My favourite was the breakfast wrap, which was pretty substantial, very tasty and would only be improved if there was the option to have a sauce added in.

So firstly, I had heard very good things about this place and tried to get in a week prior. But at the time it was completely crowded and people were queuing out the door and partly down the street. Having seen this we decided to postpone and try Again the next week. I phoned up prior to make a reservation, but was told they don’t take reservations. Having explained my experience however they agreed to keep a table for two free for when we arrived at 11. So we came to Eight Tea Nine bang on the dot of 11 for a classic brunch however despite having made these arrangements we still had to queue at the door for 15-20 mins. So if you’re trying to make reservations, don’t bother it doesn’t help. Very much a case of key timings vs first come first serve/free-for-all. I had the “build your own breakfast” 7 items (about £10); 1x sausage (slightly undercooked), bacon, 1x egg (apparently scrambled eggs count for two items), mushrooms, tomatoes, beans and toast. With a cappuccino. As pictured. Tbh I’m a little disappointed. Not to mention I’m pretty sure this looks suspiciously similar to a Wetherspoons breakfast meal (the style of plate in particular is rather familiar). However it was still a decent breakfast, wherever it came from. ?‍♂️ and the cafe is decorated well for the space they had. Only other thing worth noting is they only take cash payments. ? NO CARD payments! And when they bring your bill they provide you with a cute box to put it all in which is a nice touch. If I could offer them any advice I would start by having a machine to take card payments as it’s very much the way forward in a cashless society and a decent booking system so that people have the ability to plan and book in advance. And maybe invest in some unique plates. If they’re gonna use food from another business might be best make it less obvious. ?

Food is good, not too special, coffee ok. Staff very rude and service has gone very downhill. Staff have quite the attitude

Had bits of tuna on my vegetarian sandwich. Salad was a bit on the turn too unfortunately.

Ordered the egg sandwich and came with tuna stuck to it which isn’t great for a supposedly veggie sandwich … doesn’t scream great food hygiene Salad was not fresh at all Would not go back

Handily located right on the High St, with a couple of small pavement tables. Only had tea, but it was good and served in a decent mug.
