Local fish and chips, always great food and great friendly service. Been going here for 15 years or so and never disappoints. Great place.Vegetarian options: Whilst i'm not familiar with vegetarian/vegan foods, inside the takeaway they have displayed a food chart of what is generally sold which they sell. Also don't be afraid to ask either because I've been going there for 15 years and it's always been the same two people, they are very friendly so don't be afraid to ask.

Too many fish and chip shops pre cook the fish to provide a faster service. Gold River however only cook to order. This ensures the batter is crisp and holds the fish in a golden, crunchy cocoon. I have used this shop for over 20 years and maintain it is the best in Chelmsford. The fish cakes are also something to be tried, almost have a home made quality to them.Still the best in Chelmsford

Typical old school estate chippy, very reasonable prices, lovely family running it. I've been going there for years, they're on friendly nodding terms with 90% of their customers, who tend to be long term customers. Good deals for the OAPs on the estate.
