I have been here a few times recently, and I have to say the food is very good and is very cheap but one thing I will say is every time I have visited there has been the same few people sat right by the entrance who are very loud and rude. They are also not discreet about making obnoxious remarks about other customers…

Ha Christmas lunch at the barn.Disappointed.Not very busy, poor service and felt like we were eating leftovers, particularly in the roast Turkey.

Breakfast with Santa.Table was sticky we had to clean it. I couldn't believe they couldn't send anyone out to get some Eggs, a breakfast with NO eggs unbelievable. Bacon was very salty and sausages were only warm and hard and tasteless. None of our family ate the breakfast, probably the worst meal we've had in a long time.ON THE PLUS SIDE...The Santa was absolutely brilliant, he was dressed for the part and played the part extremely well. We all thought he was excellent and almost made up for the terrible breakfast.Would recommend the Santa but not the food.

It's hard to get a good ale in chelmsford. This pub has become part of my regular routine. They know exactly how to get it right. Very good ale! Very good pub!

Had to send food back because it wasn't cooked properly. Twice so ended up not having a dinner. As rest of the people at my table had finished. Then puddings where not good..front of house took the orders but kitchen didn't take notice of the requests.of how and what we wanted. They refunded my dinner. But very disappointed as it was a Christmas do. Plus place was dirtyDietary restrictions: Don't read the messages so ended up on plates anyway. Had to send backKid-friendliness: Watch out food comes straight out of kitchen that's been microwaved . Burnt the adults mouth which was meant for the child. Has lots of screens at the tables for kids to play personally I don't like but some might.

Booked here for a family dinner on a child’s birthday. No mention anywhere of the play area being out of use - either online or when we called. The whole restaurant and furniture looked dated and in need of some TLC. Bar area looked slightly better but we didn’t sit there so can only assume. Tables were very sticky, which was unpleasant. Adult meals were ok - big portions and came quickly but the kids didn’t each much as the pasta and rice were quite dry, which I hadn’t know was even possible! Staff were friendly and attentive.

Staff wandering about but only one taking orders at the bar. Food was slow coming; which they said would be 20-30mins. It was nice and cosy despite the high ceilings. Food nothing to write home about. I expect more than 2 onion rings though!

Wonderful beer ? amazing Ipa!!!Came in a group large group. 2 roasts for £15 such a great deal. Food was great staff even better. My only criticism is that the other tables were being so rude to the poor staff. Manners cost nothing. We enjoyed our experience.

Staff are friendly and do their job well as we were served quite quickly and the food was ok, only curries. The prices are cheaper than most places. There is plenty of car parking spaces. We did feel the décor was tired and the entrance was rather muddled with boxes of food. The menus were sticky which is off-putting as was the table. First time I've been there but other people seem to have a better view of the restaurant judging from the reviews.Parking: Plenty of parking and free.
I come to the barn most weekends to have a good Sunday lunch. The food is good, and the price is resonable. But most of all, as I'm of an older generation, the staff are very welcoming and look after me very happy. Thank you.

The food was very good, but the service let it down. We waited over half hour for mains and ordered pudding to which we sat for another half hour then for someone to come over and ask if we wanted them now. Was very sad to see such poor service.

OMG walked into this place after booking online, found our reserved table but had walk over the food on the floor to be able to sit down. All the tables were full of plates and food that hadn’t been cleared away. Thought by moving to another table it would be better. Opened the menus that were sticky and greasy. That was it, got our coats and walked out. Would never go back again. It’s filthy.

Went out with DIL for an early evening meal.Not been here for many years and were very pleasantly surprised. The menu had lots of variety. Prices were reasonable. Staff very helpful and friendly. Service was very prompt. Loved that there were different eating areas. Food was delicious.

Great customer service great atmosphere felt very welcome. I had the mega breakfast only 2 minor complaints were the mushrooms were cold and one egg was still a little clear and runny. Other than that it was great. So good I didn't even mention the little issues. Will come again!
