First time here. Great service from Maria. Good food. Big portions and great choice. Well worth a visit.

We held a wake for my late father here on the first of July. Buffet food was good and so many selection of cakes including cream scones and endless amounts of tea and coffee! Thank you so much Maria and staff for your understanding and attentiveness. Much appreciated.

A great gluten free menu - lots of choice for starters, mains, desserts and Sunday roasts. I had the soup of the day (sweet potato and coconut) with gf bread, followed by a gluten free super roast. Would definitely return but probably not for the roast again - would choose from the main menu.

Revisited again to meet friends down from Sheffield as we had been a couple months ago with an aunt and was happy. Opted for the large fish and daid to waitress a whale please laughing as my friend also chose large fish. The waitress said she would sort and I would be very happy. Well to my surprise our fish and chips arrived and mine was first smaller than my friends and secondly it was smaller than a medium piece from the chip shop so very very disappointing. For £14.50 with no pees or any garnish I'm feeling very disappointed indeed. If you go to the Six Bells Boreham there fish and chips are twice the size and for £2.50 less, plus you expect more chips than a handful as well. Pudding were nice but £6.95 each is very steep for the size again. Sorry but I must say lovely surroundings and service but poor food portions and quality

Love this restaurant and the Bakehouse next door. Great for a family meal, just ensure you book in advance and check opening times. Only criticism would be that only a very small amount of vegetables served to share amongst a large group with our Sunday roasts.

Went there for a wake. Impressed by the surroundings and the sympathetic adaptions inside.Hard to judge menu as was a buffet as you would expect for a funeral. I did think that an enormous plate of crackling forming the glutton free option was a bit of a cop out though.

Raw pastry in the pie, cold vegetables, replacement 'thai salad' was just leaves, chicken swamped in dressing. We won't be going back. Ale £5 a pint. Overrated!!!!

We visited today after deciding to meet our friends somewhere near to their holiday home (we’re from Norfolk, they’re from Somerset!) From start to finish we couldn’t fault it and loved our time there. The service was fantastic. So friendly, informative and helpful. The food - I never order a roast when dining out but decided with it being Easter Sunday I’d give it a go. Wow, the nicest roast dinner we’ve eaten out in a very long time. Lots of meat, all good quality, perfect yorkshires and roasties and fresh veggies. We really did love it! Dessert was also very good! Recommend the ultimate roast - a mix of all the meats but be warned, portions are large! We had 3 children with us (11, 13 & 9 months). Made to feel very welcome, the older two loved their food and the little one was no problems. They gave us a table with lots of space and was able to make as much mess as she needed being 9 months and feeding herself. We’re already planning on next visit as soon as we’re passing the the area. Thank you!

We had a booking at another local pub which went utterly sideways so my daughter put in a call to these guys at nearly half 8 on a Saturday night to ask if they could get 6 of us in. They told us to go straight over, they had a table ready for us and we had an absolutely fantastic meal with excellent service throughout. This is definitely our new go-to local for a great meal out.

I have been at the Fox and Goose a few times before and always had lovely meals. I unfortunately brought my family yesterday for Mother’s Day a table of 8. . I have given 2 stars just for service and the amazing mixed platter starter.Unfortunately though the main courses were all well under the usuals standard the roasts had overcooked meat, reheated roast potatoes and rubbery Yorkshire puddings, just one bowl of veg for 3 people that was mainly Purple cabbage. My triple cooked chips had obviously got cold and been re- heated and were inedible and the fish had sat too long and the batter had become soft, the burger was dry. The steak was lovely but the potato thing underneath it was wet with oil and untouchable. It felt like all meals had been sat somewhere and then reheated. The salads were nice. With a bill of nearly £500 I wish I had cooked the usual toast at home. Maybe 3-15pm booking was just the wrong time, who knows but a real shame as I thought the Fox and Goose was a dead cert.
