Went for a carvery just before Christmas and was disappointed. I used to come here regularly, and every time I came I thought standards slipped a bit more. The staff are usually friendly, but the actual decor of the restaurant desperately needs a complete refresh. Walls are stained and dirty, tables sticky, carpet worn and stained etc. The food itself you have to be lucky and arrive just as fresh food is put out. Otherwise if like me you get the tail end of the meat, potatoes, veg etc then it's all luke warm to cold, and dry. Not an enjoyable experience.

Yesterday day, we had take away from Toby Carvery Chelmsford. Order came up earlier than expected. Food was very cold. After eating, my whole family became sick and have been experiencing tummy ache and high temperature. You ruined our weekend and made us sick. Council need to revoke their licence. They are not good at all.

Our Waitress Jamie (i think was her name, brown hair, tall, pretty young lady) was fantastic, I have lost a lot of faith in customer service these days but she was brill, really kind to our son and gave him an amazing ice cream platter. Thank youDietary restrictions: Great for gluten free

Staff were friendly and helpful, didn't have to wait too long, wasn't rushed. Good portions, would go back again and recommend to other'sParking: At the time we were there we were able to park in the grounds of the restaurant, if not there is ample parking elsewhere

Meat quality was good, but everything else was well below average and really disappointing. Expected better as had really good experiences in other locationsVegetarian options: You can get involved with most of the ‘trimmings’ but there isn’t a veggie alternative to meat. You just exclude that element of the mealKid-friendliness: Really great price and portion prices for kids

Arrived at 10:25 for a Breakfast booking at 10:30. Shown to our table at 10:30. Joined the queue at 10:31. Reached the breakfast bar at 11:05. No eggs, No mushrooms, No Yorkshire pudding, Black pudding, looked dry. Our table had in the meantime, been used by other guests. I then asked a manager for spare Knives & Forks, only to be told, we needed to pay for the food first. We gave up at that point and left the food on the table. Perhaps, if the system has changed and you do need to pay before eating, the front of desk could have advised, before we joined the queue.

The buffet stacked plates were actually either dirty or stained brown so we had to sort through lots before we found some that were suitable. The cutlery didn’t exude cleanliness either.New plates and cutlery are badly needed.The table we sat at was sticky.The food wasn’t nearly as great as it used to be. We last ate here before COVID.The whole place looked tired and in need of a upgrade.The toilets were the only exception, as both were very clean and tidy.We will not be returning until we hear that all these things have improved.We were very disappointed with our visit.

In the morning,I went to breakfast with some family members,and we got served by a waitress behind the bar. Her name is Danielle, and she was very rude. My little sister wanted pancakes, and she said they weren't on the menu, but a week ago, we went there, and we got some pancakes she was also talking badly about other coworkers and customers.

The food was not at all hot, half the dishes were empty and when we mentioned this to the server she grunted ‘’I know’’. The decor is looking very very tired, it is under staffed and they are rushed off their feet. The ice cream is usually a Mr Whippy but for some reason was substituted for scoops from a tub which quite frankly was like ice. First world problems I know but you did ask!!Would we return? I doubt it as the only reason to go there is for a roast dinner and certainly not the ambience so for us it was a fail!

Classic carvery with a good variety of options available. The lady who served us was incredibly bubbly and attentive! Food was amazing and I left with a very full stomach!

Staff really great although working hard as not enough of them. Especially Carver Harry/ Henry and server Jamie, went out of their way to help and be friendly polite and calm when busy.Food great.Toilets are a disgrace, need new ones that flush and hand drier that works. Disgusting.
