I went to this cafe because online the menu appeared extremely good value for money. The reviews also suggested that the staff were friendly and this cafe had a pleasant atmosphere. I preface this review by saying that my sister and I often go to local cafes and are both very polite and quiet people, so never have any problems at places and don't expect extravagant food either. First of all my sisters ordered came out wrong. This was not an issue, however when corrected she was accused of lying by all staff members, including strangely the chef and a woman who didn't take the order. Then when her food arrived, rather than two sausages, she got one which was cut in half, and the french toast she ordered was very minimal. Overall however the food was ok at best. The worst part of this cafe is nevertheless the customer service and experience. Staff were miserable and rude and were not welcoming whatsoever. After leaving the cafe we expected that we were overcharged. Upon returning to the café to question this, it turned out that the menu in the store is much more expensive than expected, and our £20 expectation actually costed £35. At this stage staff were again stand-offish and glared at us both, apart from the younger boy who helped us with the issue. We were still polite even at this point however and as a result of this experience, will not be returning and I hope those who read this will treat this cafe similarly, as it is not worth a try.

Visited this caffe recently after researching the Menue and looking at photos I was under the impression that it was a nice place with good food and low prices, although my experience wasn't meeting these expectations as we sat down we were waited on fairly fast although the kicchen /waitor got my order wrong and after I corrected there mistake I was told I was wrong and was made to feel as though it was my fault whilst they began to talk about me, the food eventually came and looked beautiful although after a few seconds I reolised my Sausage was cut in half to make it look like there were two on the plate and there was a French toast missing however I let this go. As we were leaving we reolised our meal came to nearly 40 pounds even though we only got two breakfasts and two milkshakes, we went back to the cafe under suspicion of being ripped off and the staff showed up the prices and my breakfast was 13 pounds for example and my brothers was 10. 50 however their menue online was showing reasonable prices such as 7 pounds for a breakfast, overall we felt ripped off and would not reunrn or recommend.

The male waiter came to take our order, my Partner ordered his meal first. Then we each gave him our orders. Our meals arrived but not my Partner’s, he asked for the salt beef same as our friend who had started eating his. He asked why was he waiting, the lady waiter (who was very good) said that he did not want anything to eat, that was what the guy had written down.!!!!!!! Unfortunately the salt beef was not edible so our friend and my Partner ordered something else. Which was really nice.

Poppy’s is a great local place for a quick bite. Good portions. Always busy and popular yet they always find seating for you.

Really nice time in here. I had the Mediterranean breakfast, which was really tasty, especially the feta cheese and fried egg, and my girlfriend had the vegan breakfast, which she said was really tasty too. The service was warm and friendly, and the interior design was really good too. I recommend this place if you fancy some nice cafe food, some with a twist. Thank you very much

Male waiter had no manners whatsoever, He was quite rude when talking to us. I even saw him being the same way with other customers, hurrying them along and making them move out of his way. The female waitress was lovely and polite! Food was brilliant though.

I visited poppy's cafe Saturday, 15th July with my mum (72 who has Parkinson's) and my daughter of 11. I have been to poppy's infrequently pre and post revamp and have always had a pleasant time especially with the friendly staff. Unfortunately on this occasion there was a new host with a very bad attitude who wrestled the menu from my mum and then proceeded to intimidate/bully us, other customers (apart from the particularly tall man who asked for ketchup!) And the staff. This was an uncomfortable situation and I will not go to poppy's anymore which is real shame especially for the staff who have been there keeping their customers happy for years. So disappointed ?
