Brought home fish and chips yesterday and was disappointed to find the haddock soggy, luke warm, tasteless and limp. I was a bit suspicious as the fryer was putting fresh fish in one compartment and the lady who served me took the sad piece of haddock from a compartment sitting on its own with the pies (she had to support it with her other hand as it would've broke into two). Smith's had been in business for about ten years the first time I ate their fish and chips, and they were the best for miles around even then. I was pleased to see they're still there, especially as so much of the Epping I once knew is gone, and am delighted to say the food is just as good as ever.

Been going to Smiths for years, by far the best fish and chip shop however the portions are getting smaller and smaller- my son bought chips today, it was not even a portion, I had to go out to buy some more. Smiths is also very expensive, coupled with the portion size, they rival down the road has much bigger portions, the fish is much bigger and also it’s slightly cheaper.They really need to look at their portion sizes!
