Didn't have food, but the food looked good,we sat outside and the area should have been sweep up,it looked like it ain't been sweeped up for days,so many cigarette buts, and rubbish blowing around,it's a shame such a nice pub this was 12 30pm,

Food was lovely. Service was quick, simple and friendly. All that you would expect from your local, even managed to get in to take advantage of the 2 for £20 deal. Shame to see some customers expectations are ridiculous, but team handled the situation well.

Fantastic atmosphere. We went over the Jubilee weekend. Great food, great music. The children enjoyed the bouncy castle. Staff were very friendly.

The menu was sparse, the food quality was pitiful, the customer service was poor and the pub atmosphere was uninviting. What was once a nice pub has rapidly declined. Such a shame.

I read the reviews for this place before booking, not all good but decided to try for myself as i hate reviews.I am leaving one because this place deserves it! My expectations were low but they were exceeded.A nice family pub with a relaxed atmosphere. Best of all the food was lovely. Well priced, good portions that came to us well presented and hot!One of the only pubs in the area serving food all day. Also with disabled access.Thank you Essex Skipper

Travelled to Essex Skipper for lunch, very disappointed limited menu, compared to what it use to be. Although people at a different table to us who arrived a bit later had a different menu to us, with more options! Service was ok, price reasonable.

Absolutely fantastic, the meal was beautiful, the staff are amazing. Warm, clean and welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to return, will make it our regular for sure.

Good basic pub lunch food. Outside really needs a tidy up. It has recently been taken on by new management so maybe they haven't had time to do this yet.

Good service..but the food was very average..I ordered a burger and it was completely dry..and not too cheap either. The atmosphere in the pub was good.. but the food let it down.

I have grown up with this place and it has had it's ups and downs but yesterday staff at the essex skipper couldnt have been more attentive. Thank you keep it up! Do not let this lovely little place slip away again

Excellent Sunday roast but would have preferred mixed grill but no normal menu on Sundays despite website stating otherwise.

An amazing night, with good people. The band were brilliant and played a large number of songs that were pretty eclectic but great performances. The environment was enjoyable and fun. The staff were friendly and on top of order, there was barely a queue for drinks all night.

Service was okay , but that's as far as it went . The meal left a lot to be desired . Soup luke warm , but very spicy . The liver was like leather . Very over cooked . The vegetarian curry consisted of mainly cauliflower and a little broccoli . All over cooked . Won't be visiting again .
