Lovely rural pub with 4 delightful dogs hellbent on tickles and wandering around. Great food and also a good choice of drinks (and, which is now highly relevant for me, of alcohol-free ones). Warm welcome too - we'll be back!

Best beef chilli I've had in any pub or restaurant.

It's very good. Service and food we're excellent on my midweek lunchtime visit. If you're a dog owner or fan then this might be a place for you as there were 2 springer spaniels and a chocolate Labrador who had the run of the pub. Do keep a close eye on your possessions especially those within reach of our 4-legged friend. The dogs were exactly as you expect retrievers to be.

Great traditional Pub with really good food and friendly service. We had the Black Lion salad, a panini and a Burger, all great with lovely drinks too. Followed by some great old fashioned deserts too, who doesn’t love Jam Roly-Poly pudding.

Called in after walking in the local area. The menu was promising, and with only 3 other guests in the pub we anticipated good service. We waited nearly 1 hour to get our food with no hint of an apology. My gammon had clearly been sat around for a while. Its difficult to complain when your hungry and can't wait another hour. Wouldn't rush back.

Pleasantly surprised by the food here. Ordered a tuna sandwich which then came with fries and a side salad. Food was great and the pub was fairly quiet for a Saturday afternoon. They have several large screen TV'S and sky sports. Good value at around £10 for a sandwich chips and salad and halfa Cider.

A local pub to us and it's always great in here. The kids are welcome, the food is amazing and the prices are normal! We absolutely love seeing the pub dogs too who are always very friendly - a highlight for the kids! Great beer garden too.

Lovely little pub.Dog friendly, there's even a little bench seat next to the bar for dogs and owners.Full of character.Food service is slow, and the quality varies.Sea bass is excellent but small.Avoid the salads, you just get iceberg lettuce, 3 bits of carrot and 2 thin sclices of peppers for £12Sandwiches are all delicious and are good sizes.Lasagne yummie.Baked potatoes- OK ish.Scampi burnt.French fries super yummie.I really like this pub but for food either pre order or make sure you plan for a long wait. For relaxing there, it is great. Friendly staff, good inside and outside areas. Full of character. Good parking. Prices for drinks are on par for the area. Bar snakes eg nibbles, crisps etc there is a good variety. On the whole, a lovely little pub and well worth a visit.
