Amazing! Have been twice now and both times it has measured up to the other reviews. The menu has lots of choice and will change every couple of months so no second thoughts about coming back. There wasn't something we ordered that didn't meet the high standards and we received little extras to try here and there throughout the night too. The portions are generous but they are extremely flexible in letting you choose any combinations or sizes for what you want, we tried 5 starters between two of us. It is incredible value too given how many different plates we had.The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the service very friendly and attentive.Would recommend this to anyone and think it is easily one of the best restaurants in Essex.

I liked this restaurant. The service was excellently attentive, everything thoughtfully explained and unhurried. I liked the menu structure in the french 'menu' style. There were nice touches that one might not have expected, an interesting amuse bouche and a final flourish of a taster of lemon posset.The menu is varied and interesting and the quality of cooking good. We enjoyed it and will hope to return. Thank you!

We held our staff Christmas meal here (7 of us) and were extremely impressed. Despite a lot of last minute changes to the number of our guests, and then one person wanting al a carte, the other, a vegetarian Tasting menu (on the morning of our booking). Nothing was too much trouble for Rob and his team.6 of us had the December tasting menu and flight of wines. The food was excellent, with very good sized portions and the wine was very well selected and reasonably priced. A few of the stand out dishes being the Squash Tortelli (some of the best pasta we have eaten), Sea bass and the OX cheek.The staff were very attentive and helpful and food excellent. I would definitely recommend a visit and we will be returning in 2024.

Absolutely STUNNING!Decided to book a last minute reservation and completely delighted we did.Kya was a truly wonderful and attentive host.Even despite me asking for adaptions to the menu, and also changing my mind to a portion size mid way through our 5 course meal!!!The food was sensational, the scallops blew us away.So much care, love and detail went into each course.Its a shame we live on the other side of the country, but will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Essex.Thank you again Kya.

I have eaten here three times. Whereas the first two times were impeccable and excellent value, the last experience was a serious let down. My pork loin was dry and tough, like a thin pork chop that was badly overcooked -- and devoid of any seasoning. My companions had ordered the stuffed tomato and described it as "school food". The dessert was a choux pastry that the waitress had extolled to the high heavens. But it was clearly more than a day old judging from the stodginess of the pastry.The bright spot was the service which was warm, friendly and very solicitous. I hope the restaurant can restore its cuisine to its original level soon.

I would give 6 stars if I could. A fantastic meal last night with family and friends. Restaurant buzzing with atmosphere, fantastic service and the food was amazing. Great wine selection and all very well priced. So lucky we do not have to travel far to this absolute gem of a restaurant. Recent investment in the seating shows continued drive to keep on improving. Difficult to improve on perfection, but they do. An absolute must visit.

We were on a staycation this week and it was our first visit here, so we chose to experience the set lunch menu. The restaurant has a lovely character and we requested to sit outside on the veranda as it was a lovely day. Even though the restaurant is located on a busy road, the location is peaceful and a lovely place to dineFood was excellent and we liked the 'anything is possible' approach to choosing a meal. We had an excellent main and a dessert for 20 pounds. This was accompanied with a well selected and reasonably priced viognier. The service was exceptional, with a friendly and responsive feel, as well as lots of cute extras such as arancini appetisers and a delicious palette cleanser.Definitely a new favourite spot for higher end lunch. We look forward to our next visit and would highly recommend.
