The cuisine was acceptable, not extraordinary but also not subpar. My main concern arose with the inclusion of a 12.5% service charge on the bill for our party of four. Such charges might be typical in the heart of London, yet in Maldon, it felt somewhat misplaced especially considering nobody asked how our food was.

Won't bother returning ! The manager is rude, slow service despite it being quiet. Had to ask for table to be cleared, dessert was just put amongst the finished main course. The food was OK but overpriced. Sides are tiny and expensive.

Just on impulse, and because of the board outside advertising 2 courses for £11.95 we went for lunch into The Sark. Whilst the food was lovely with no complaints, what they do not tell you is that they stick a 12.5% service charge on the bill. I would have been more than happy to leave a tip for good service, but I absolutely resent being forced to pay this extra tax. No way was it £11.95 and they should make this clear. Because of this, I will not be going there again.

Very busy Wednesday night, lovely service from an extensive and delicious menu. Very comfortable with nice atmosphere ?Parking: Park in Butt Lane public car park and cut through by the Swan or Wenlock Way.

Went there on Saturday night for a birthday meal. 12 people in our party. The service was appalling. The drinks were half served with members of the party waiting 20 minutes. They forgot two starters and the service in general was terrible. The food was no more than average . Will not be going back.

Nearest place to park is the Friary Meadows car park which is accessed via white horse lane or butt lane car park behind the rose and crown. £2.20 for 3 hours, card payment or app to make payment.
