Ate at Fish on the Quay and it was Fab. Amazing food and friendly service. We even had a view of the river through the rain. Will definitely come back again!

We hadn't booked a table but they had space straight away. The food was lovely, especially the roast lamb, which was cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes weren't out of a packet. The portions were ample and all in all was good value for money. We will definitely be booking for next time we're in the

First time in the Jolly Sailor after a recommendation from a friend and found a picturesque moon to greet us which was lovely over the Quay.A nice fresh pint of Neck Oil to warm up the Cod and Chips. Terry had his usual muscles and were as good as he remembered. All in all, glad we visited. Well fed, good drink and happy customers. Plus the moon was spectacular from this location ?

Beautiful food! Huge portions! Right in front of the harbour so it's lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by while enjoying a gorgeous meal. The only thing that could be improved is that waitresses didn't really know anything about the menu and didn't know what they were bringing out. Other than that, great! ?

We stayed over for a night before visiting Colchester Zoo. Had everything we needed such as hairdryer, ironing board, TV, good bed, full tea/coffee making facilities inc. hot choc, biscuits and bottles of water. Had a beautiful breakfast too to set us up for the day. Friendly hosts and highly recommended!!

Food & drinks: Called in for a drink but ended up having Sunday lunch. The roast Lamb was delicious and plentiful. The other couple we were with had the beer battered fish and the other scampi both portions were huge. The service was good and the staff were friendly and welcoming

We had a table booked and unfortunately we were 15 minutes late as the tide had come in over where we needed to walk so was tricky to navigate. We were told we gave your table away but you can sit there. The lady (assuming she was the owner) made us feel very uncomfortable. Food was nice although the chicken burger was so dry. Just a bun and grilled overcooked chicken. We felt very uncomfortable and couldn't wait to get out of there. I think it would be helpful if the lady didn't sit and stare at her customers. Or shout over to members of staff telling them what to do without a please or thank you. Shame as it's in a great spot. Maybe sitting in the garden would have been better.

For your basic stay,I couldn't recommend such a great stay.Room may be small but has all that you need for, for your night/night's, great view, comfortable Bed, but can do with sprucing up. You get what you pay for, but would gladly pay more after an upgrade. Thank you staff for a comfortable stay.

Brought visitors from Scotland. We ate outside in the sunshine, with umbrellas for shade. Excellent choice of fish on the menu. All four meals were excellent, cooked beautifully and were thoroughly enjoyed. Good wine choice, by the glass and excellent cold beers. Will be back!!

Lovely pub, but rooms need a bit of attention and updating. Where the pub is situated is spot on looking out onto the boats, really nice waking up with that view.Rooms: Rooms need to have a bit of a makeover, little tired in places.
