Found this little gem this afternoon. Lovely atmosphere, good service and excellent food, very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend the 'Rib and Rump' with the beef dripping gravy! Absolutely delicious ? would definitely come back when we are in the area again!

We came here for Xmas dinner. The table was booked for 2pm but was changed by the pub to 230 without telling us. We sat down and didn't get our starters until gone 3pm and server at different times. I got 3 pieces of deep fried brie with a tiny offering of cranberry sauce. The other starter which was prawn cocktail consisted of 5 small prawns and a small amount of sauce with one slice of bread some buttered some not and some got a small slide of cucumber in a large plate Dinner wasn't served until around an hour later and it took 45 minutes for everyone to get their food in the worst case Mr sister in law for her dinner when we'd all finished. The dinner itself was bad. Fatty greasy beef rib with 4 small quarters of frozen potatoes the veg was cold and again came in intervals so not everyone had veg to start. The staff were bringing up the dish one plate at a time and often not fully serving tables which resulted in half server tables throughout the pub. I can't believe that the chef allowed this rubbish to be out of the kitchen. I work in the food industry and I would be embarrassed by the low quality of food that was served up. It's clear that the management and kitchen were not prepared properly for an Xmas dinner service

Visited here a lot for Sunday roast usually good staff and good food. Rang today to see if we could get a table and staff member was rude said no roasts left and they had run out then proceeded to put the phone down! Her attitude was very rude and by her tone of voice she was obviously having a bad day but to be hung up on was no need .

We went yesterday for an impromptu lunch after learning that the pub was dog friendly. We were made really welcome as was the dog. The log fire was burning brightly making the place toasty. I had the Christmas menu - turkey with all the trimmings and my husband had the ham, egg and chips. Both were served promptly and with generous portions. My turkey was succulent and tasty, the veg freshly cooked and plentiful. My husband had a huge portion of thick cut ham which he said was delicious. We were so impressed that we booked to return for their Sunday lunch.

Nice beer garden, food ok but menu is small, no ales or bitters on tap, polite staff, worth a visit to make your mind up.

We had a very warm welcome and were seated straight away. Nice menu and very reasonable priced. Staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. We shared a starter (stilton mushrooms and freshly cooked bread, very nice) and both had roast beef with a side of cauliflower cheese, plenty of gravy and horseradish sauce. The food was amazing, the service was attentive, we both enjoyed our Sunday lunches, probably the best roast I've had in a long time. I would definitely recommend going here to anyone I know.

We sat outside on the picnic benches for lunch as the weather was scorching. During our visit, the pub was having exterior renovations. This wasn't a huge issue as there weren't any building noise, but the scaffolding obviously wasn't pretty to look at. There are plenty of picnic benches outside, most with umbrellas. The pub also played music into its garden, which was a nice touch. My partner and I really enjoyed our lunches. The chunky chips were delicious! Our meals were served promptly, and all of the food was hot. Prices were good and there is lots of choice on the menu.

The pub itself appeared to be going through a refurbishment. This did not appear to affect the operating of the pub. We visited this pub on a Tuesday evening. What we didn’t know was that Tuesday was quiz night. We are not keen on quizzes. But no problem we just got takeaway meals. The first thing I ordered was unavailable. There were no steaks available. A Sizzling Pub without steak ain’t no sizzling pub in my opinion. My second choice was the Ultimate Plate. We collected our takeaway meals and headed to our hotel leaving the pub to enjoy their quiz. When we got to our hotel we opened the takeaway boxes to discover two things. The first was that there was nothing ultimate about the Ultimate Plate portion. It was the size of a supermarket ready meal. The second thing we discovered was that there were no poppadoms or mango chutney in the box. Not that I think it would make a difference as the ultimate plate was so small. Sorry folks but you fluffed this one up.
