Lovely place for Sunday roast, good portion sizes, we had Camembert to share, 2 people had the super roast, 1 beef and I had chicken. Chicken was lovely and soft. The pork on the super roast was the best overall. Only thing we didn’t like was the cauliflower cheese. Staff could have been a bit more attentive but overall we enjoyed our visit

We booked this place for a special meal after our fathers wake . Actually booking it took some time as responding to phone calls wasn't great . But I cannot fault the food or service . They provided a lovely evening meal to end a very difficult day and they were very understanding .Highly recommend them

We booked a table for two at the Fox & Goose for you birthday. We have used the bake house and been very impressed, so assumed that the restaurant would be of the same quality. However, they were severely understaffed, and the food was atrocious. The squid rings were very chewy, and I ordered a burger that honestly I couldn’t finish, I would have had a nicer meal at a fast food place. I must highlight, that the staff that were there were very courteous and were doing their very best. But for what cost us £91, I would have expected something much better. We paid our bill and didn’t complain on the night as I felt sorry for the staff who were working very hard, but I won’t be returning.

Visited with friends for the first time and had the chicken Sunday roast. Food was excellent and the Yorkshire pudding huge. Staff were very attentive and we were not rushed through to make way for another sitting despite a lunch booking. The atmosphere was lively but quiet enough to talk with ease. Sticky toffee pudding was the special for the day and my favourite so overall a great dinning experience. Already making plans for a return visit.

We went here as always. But food was very poor. Soup tasteless like water 30 min wait for main meal that was not much better Sunday roast very bad we didn't even wait for dessert as were very disappointed when we arrived we were told we had to be of the table by 14.00 as. Table was booked for someone else that's definitely not good how can you leave by 14.00 when it took over half hour for main after starterNot happy with this place at all

Food used to be lovely, but went there today and food and service was rubbish, fish and chips overcooked, had to wait 1/2 an hour before she took our order said she forgot about us, , then another 40 minutes for food to arrive, which did not look nice, she said they have had a new chef recently. Won't be going back again.

Just stumbled on this little Jewel in Chelmsford . Meat from farm to folk and portion size generous. A great little friendly vibe nothing seems too much for their guest . Particular impressed with the Owner who was supporting service , engaged in friendly conversation which was super cool. The back story to their journey is a nice one ! Well done guys !!

Food was good but service slow and they forgot our main meal so long delay for getting it. Whole place very tatty and rundown. Very disappointing.

We visited the Fox and Goose on Christmas Day (2023) for the second time having attended in 2022. However on this occasion the food and service was poor. The food was overcooked (turkey dry and tough and beef extremely tough). roast potatoes and pigs in blankets were missing from some plates and had to send back. On top of this they were clearly over extended, at times staff didn't know what they should be doing. Instructions from the manager were carried out across tables creating a poor atmosphere. Empty glasses were left on table throughout the meal. For the money it definitely was not worth it this year and we wont be returning. I contacted them on a couple of occasions, where my comments were forwarded to the owner to get back to me. however I have had no reply, so customer service also poor.

Lovely pub in the middle of the countryside and just an hour away from London, making a good option for a city break.Came as a large group and had a generous lunch.Overall I would say the quality of food was high however a few things lowered the average a bit.For the prices we paid (considering this is not a pub in central london either) we received a really small portion of really dry and tasteless pork. Scratching were the hardest I had in a long time.Truffle fries were an extortion. We ended up paying 60£ per person and I don’t think the quality was there to reason the price.Overall a good pub, but overpriced.

Sunday lunch today, fantastic! By far best meal had in Chelmsford area for years. Service slick, atmosphere good staff attentive but not intrusive, food was very good. Thank you all! Worth visit!

Great welcome, a glowing log fire, comfortable dining room and excellent service. My fish was deliciously fresh with beautifully flaking flesh and super crispy batter that was an absolute delight. Thoroughly recommend...Vegetarian options: I simply asked and the options were excellent.Dietary restrictions: Our allergies were dealt with perfectly.
