This was our 1st time in the Harvester. We reserved a table yesterday for today. This was for 9 adults and 2 children. We were looked after well. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal, although my jacket potato was hard inside in parts. The staff are friendly and polite. This was a lovely family lunch.

The rice was dry and crispy but the rest of the food was lovely. I cannot really fault the quality of the food. Compliments to the kitchen!Unfortunately, the restaurant was just about acceptably clean. But the toilets were positively disgusting! The waitress was miserable, I don't like having my salad served by someone else, the salad selection is really limited and much less choice than it used to be.I ordered coffee and mini desert to be then told the coffee machine was broken. I cancelled my order and went to the toilet. However, the mini desert was on the table when I returned. I queried this to be told ??‍♀️ "don't worry" BUT I was charged full price for the coffee and desert. On the whole, the restaurant is of a much lower standard than other Harvesters I have recently visited

Just had a really great meal here. Ribs were delicious as usual. Service was outstanding, Kye in particular was very attentive, friendly, helpful and a great asset to Harvester. Booking was easy and was seated quickly by very helpful Manager. Explained to Kye that where we were seated was too hot for me, so moved us to a table near an open window with no fuss, which i really appreciated. Thank you for adding to our anniversary meal. Sue

Best Meal in a whileI haven't visited the Tarpots in years but randomly we chose to go there, booking ahead online, which was painless, parking and putting reg details in the foyer machine(also not a trauma). The staff were friendly and efficient and arriving Sunday at 12.30 it was pleasantly quieter, although by the time we left there was a build up.You no longer pick your own salad (which I found a relief as I always worried about cross contamination before) you follow your service assistant and tell them what you would like.Being vegiatarian I had a choice of several dishes (which thankfully did not feel like afterthoughts) and chose the camembert and cherry tomato tartlet, it was devine! Jacket potato was cooked perfectlyOnly complaint the coleslaw was bland. My partner chose a burger in blue cheese. He too was delighted with his choice. All of the staff were exceptional and Kye was an absolute credit to himself, remaining cheerful, easy going and yet on top of everything. We do not go out to eat much and this was a well chosen treat. We never have dessert and regrettably I chose an Eton mess which I couldn't finish but my other half managed his crumble delighted. Will we go back? YesAnything that could be improved on?This is just a minor observation reflecting on a previous meal in my hometown.Maybe a separate menu for vegans and vegitarians, with all of the options available.Other than that I could not fault it.

Only given 1 star as I have to. 5 of us went for a Mothers Day breakfast and had booked a table for 10:30. We were seated on time which was was nice as the restaurant was understandably very busy. Placed our food order 15 minutes after seating but by watching the food come up for the tables around it quickly became apparent that they were either overbooked or understaffed. Our food finally arrived at 11:55 making this lunch rather than breakfast and when it did quite simply it was terrible. 1 order was wrong - had to accept it as didn't have time to wait for a replacement - Mediterranean Eggs turned up cold with 2 other meals adequate at best. By far the worst part of this shambolic visit is what they tried to deliver to my 2 year old though. She had pancakes with Chocolate Sauce and Strawberries (was supposed to be banana but they had run out). Her plate was brought to the table by a waitress holding it in a doubled over tea towel, I took the plate from her to pass to my toddler (we were in a booth) and burnt my hands. This would have done some serious damage to my child had she of touched it! When I complained the plate of food was taken away and the same food was returned on a cold plate. When the food was returned we inspected it and the pancakes were dry and the strawberries were still hot, its at this point it became very obvious her food had been sitting at the pass for a considerable amount of time to end up in this state and for the plate to be untouchable! All in all, 2 inedible meals, 1 wrong meal and 2 adequate at best. Do yourself a favour and find a cafe, may have to spend a little more but trust me it will be worth it!

Extremely busy, late Saturday afternoon, had a special mother's day weekend menu that was good value. Service was good though place was packed. Only down side was they run out of ice cream ???? Which didn't go down well with the youngsters.
