Absolutely wonderful place, food is first class, staff are fantastic, the whole experience was amazing. Not the first time I have been, definitely one of my favourite restaurants

A great Italian restaurant . Good quality food friendly staff and great prices. We were in Southend a couple of days and this helped make our experience enjoyable. Only downside is they are so busy seating can be a squeeze. Highly recommended

Great food, great service. Reasonable priced too. But! Be aware the service charge of 10% is automatically included in your bill. Should have been made clearer in my opinion. Don't tip twice, unless you want to ?

Both my husband and I were pleased with the service and meal at the piccolo. We added a tip to our bill when paying. And later noticed that a service charge had already been added to the bill. Would have been nice to have been told charges had already been added. Be aware!

Great food, happy enthusiastic staff, really make you feel welcome. Nice location overlooking the estuary and a stone's throw away from Cliff's Pavilion, so an ideal place to grab something tasty to eat before or after a show. Daily specials board if the main menu doesn't grab you, plus a set early bird menu.

Every time we went to Southend we can't miss a dinner at Piccolo. Authentic Italian food and atmosphere. The only place in UK I forget to not be in Italy

Came here on a whim with my bf. This place is such an odd mix of a typical English pub, with an Italian twist and amazing restaurant level food but it works! The waiters are super friendly and make you feel comfortable. The food of course was great. If you ever come by this place, you HAVE to go!

Unforgettable as always! What a gem of an Italian restaurant, by far the best around! The atmosphere is second to none, the staff make it such a pleasant experience! The food is delicious and can’t fault a thing

Worst Saturday night dining experience ever! Booked a table for 6 over three weeks ago and on arrival was made to feel like we hadn’t made the booking. Left standing in the doorway for 15 minutes. There were also other diners left standing there. It was utter chaos. When we did eventually get shown to our table, two of our party were almost sitting in the toilets. Just unacceptable. We asked to be moved and when they realised we were about to walk we were shown to another table. After going there for over 40 years we realise it’s not intimate dining but it was so raucous we couldn’t hear ourselves speak. The service wasn’t particularly good and due to the chaos it reflected on the food. They are just packing too many people in. The final straw, on arriving home, we checked the bill and found we’d been charged for two items we didn’t have! We all agreed that sadly we won’t be returning to the Piccolo.

Lovely Italian restaurant on the seafront in Southend. Great food and fantastic views. Staff were lovely and went well out of their way to make my birthday celebrations memorable

A great restaurant with an inviting and genuine atmosphere. My girlfriend and I visited recently and were happy as always. We were able to move our booking on the day and arrived to a nice evening. Our food was lovely and arrived to us in a timely manner. The food is slightly on the dear side for my student budget but I left feeling happy with the expense. Also we had quite little space around us but honestly it was a nice experience. Service was a charm and the desert was absolutely fantastic.Overall, a great place to eat, especially on a date.

Booked a meal for the wife and I prior to seeing show at Theatre. Table for two for 1800hrs. Restaurant was at full capacity, no care for COVID, placed by large party covering four tables. Very loud, coarse and socially brash group who had to shout to each other on every occasion along with their screaming babies. This isn’t the restaurants fault. Food wise, waited an hour for main meal only as could tell if we ordered a starter we would miss the show. Food on arrival was mediocre at best, Lamb steaks were frozen before hand and veg was bland and unseasoned. Atmosphere was ridiculously loud and many customers asked to move away from group. Decided to only have main and leave as soon as possible. This is possibly the worst restaurant experience I have encountered.
