Great selection of meats, beef brisket cooked amazingly, in fact the whole dinner was. Unlike the rest of the greedy establishments out there, you don’t pay extra for the staple part of a roast dinner either! Cauliflower cheese is not an optional side!! The staff were very lovely too. Highly recommend.
Also like a tardis in there, I thought was a tiny little pub. It’s not!

This pub has a great balance of lively atmosphere and comfortable seating, making it ideal for both drinks and food. Staff were polite, quick, and helpful throughout the visit. The place was clean and well organised, with a friendly local feel. Drinks selection was very good, with plenty of choices on tap and fair prices. Food arrived quickly, was hot, and tasted excellent. It’s a great spot to meet friends, watch live sport, or spend a relaxed evening out. One of the better pubs in Southend and definitely somewhere I would visit again soon.

Cambridge Square Gardens, The Bowling Green Pavilion, Cambridge Road, Clifftown, Southend-on-SeaHad the pleasure of attending a Burns Supper at this lovely establishment last night. A 3 course meal complete with a piper and a proper addressing of the Haggis. Food was spectacular, the addition of creamed leeks to the haggis, neeps and tatties was a standout. The Crannachan was fantastic too. Got chatting to the lovely owner and it’s clear she takes a lot of pride in and takes a great deal of care in making the restaurant a success. We’ll definitely be returning.

But next time may not be him again. The interior is nice and comfortable. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. We ordered a cheese board. The portion is surprisingly generous. This place is really the spotlight of our day.
Well, it is called Royal Hotel. But I don’t think it is a hotel anymore.

We made use of their private room, which was the ideal size for around 30 guests. We were able to get in early to decorate, and staff were very helpful! The food was delicious and incredibly plentiful and good value for the choice and amount. I would absolutely hire for a special occasion again, thank you!

12-14 Western Esplanade, Southend-on-SeaGreat little restaurant to eat. Don’t take bookings only a walk-in service but will call you back when/if a table becomes available. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Would definitely go there again. Offered us a 2 course lunch on a Friday for £18.95. (Main and dessert) I had mussels which was a good choice. They don’t have a liquor licence but you are welcome to bring in your own alcoholic drinks. This will save you a few quid. Tables are very limited but all have an excellent sea view. Service excellent and staff very friendly.

89 High St, Southend-on-SeaWe had our Roast dinner here today. It was the best Roast dinner that we have had. There was 6 of us in our booking and 2 of us need to eat gluten free. Usually when you go out and eat gluten free they do this by taking items away but at this pub they did all the trimmings for us gluten free so Yorkshires, stuffing, gravey and cauliflower all gluten free and it was all homemade. The puddings were just as good too and they do a gluten free brownie. Great food and nice atmosphere in this country pub set in Wakering.

89 Ness Rd, Southend-on-SeaI've been here a few times for breakfasts and lunches. The food is always cooked fresh and served piping hot and so far has been pretty decent. The range of set breakfasts is a highlight and the baguettes are good too. I've not tried one but having seen them served up, the salads look great as well. Prices are very fair. Nice to have the option to sit outside too on a nice day.

Nice welcome from the staff, quickly seated and drinks and poppadoms ordered. Settled on the Chicken Dhansak and Pilau Rice. Good choice, Dhansak was good, rich sweet and sour flavour and nice level of heat although could have gone a bit more. All in at a shade over £26, standard price nowadays.
Free parking after 5:30 in the council car park but remember to register your car and get a ticket even though its free.
Highly recommend it and will be back.

The puddings were just as good too and they do a gluten free brownie. Great food and nice atmosphere in this country pub set in Wakering.

The Exchange Bar & Kitchen
659 Southchurch Rd, Southend-on-SeaReally enjoyable visit to The Exchange in Southend-on-Sea. This pub has a great balance of lively atmosphere and comfortable seating, making it ideal for both drinks and food. Staff were polite, quick, and helpful throughout the visit. The place was clean and well organised, with a friendly local feel. Drinks selection was very good, with plenty of choices on tap and fair prices. Food arrived quickly, was hot, and tasted excellent. It’s a great spot to meet friends, watch live sport, or spend a relaxed evening out. One of the better pubs in Southend and definitely somewhere I would visit again soon.

La Petite Petanque
Cambridge Square Gardens, The Bowling Green Pavilion, Cambridge Road, Clifftown, Southend-on-SeaHad the pleasure of attending a Burns Supper at this lovely establishment last night. A 3 course meal complete with a piper and a proper addressing of the Haggis. Food was spectacular, the addition of creamed leeks to the haggis, neeps and tatties was a standout. The Crannachan was fantastic too. Got chatting to the lovely owner and it’s clear she takes a lot of pride in and takes a great deal of care in making the restaurant a success. We’ll definitely be returning.

Luker Rd, Southend-on-SeaVery friendly staff, lots of screens for sports. Not for the real ale drinker but a good choice of lagers. Tables are separated and all staff wear masks, masks also to be worn apart from sitting at the tables
