Leigh Bistro Restaurant

Really lovely place to eat. Staff were wonderful and the atmosphere was great. I'm vegan and had the tomato soup to start, the nut roast as a main and sorbet for dessert, as shown in the photos. Tasty food but if I could make one small suggestion it would be to find a new vegan dessert because sorbet doesn't count ;)

The fish was bery fresh tasting and the batter was extremely crispy meaning it was a as good as it gets.The chips were crunchy not your classical chippy chips but still very good.The staff were incredible super friendly and nice some of the best service i have ever had. Complimentry coffee aswell couldn’t ask for anything more

Went for the 1st time Saturday. I was in a big party of 15. The food was amazing. The service was spot on. A very friendly atmosphere. 10/10. Will definitely be returning soon.

San Fairie Ann

Absolutely amazing Sunday Roast, we try a different restaurant every Sunday from Plough and Sail to The Royal Hotel all scummy but this was by far the best. Beautiful piece of lamb, gorgeous Roast potatoes and perfect Yorkshire puds. All whilst listening to a live piano player. Wonderful hosts who couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Can't wait to try their themed nights.Massive THANK YOU.

The Gold Coast restaurant

We arrived pretty early in the evening (5:30) as we had two young children with us, so it was empty at first but filled up very quickly. Lots of ppl coming in for takeaways too.We choose meals from the 'buffet style' menu. Choosing 5 starters and 5 mains. All delicious. We all noticed how it tasted delicious and not greasy at all. They also treated my eldest to an ice cream. He enjoyed this and also loved the prawn crackers at the beginning of the meal. We will be coming again and even try getting a takeaway too.Kid-friendliness: High hairs and patience with children

The Hamlet Court

Lovely roast beef dinner. Beautiful meat, lovely potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Lovely horseradish sauce and cauliflower cheese. Only thing was the Vegetables — could do with something other than cabbage… the roasted carrots tasted horrible. More vegetables would have been nice.

I went to Cafe Masala as part of my work Christmas celebrations. The food and service was fantastic. Everything was incredibly tasty and the staff were so friendly and helpful!Thank you so much for a great Christmas Indian :)

Il Pescatore

Can't fault the restaurant. It is a bit crowded with not much room but that is a small thing. The food and service were brilliant and we had a lovely meal for mothers day. The grandson was well catered for and there is something to suit everyone. They even came outside to find us after I forgot my bottle of wine on the table. Lovely people.

Such a lovely local and very family friendly pub. Food is always lovely and good value for money. The manager always goes above for welcoming the children, putting on special events for them.

Maxwells

My wife and i dropped into Maxwells for the first time today during a shopping trip to Southend. We just expected a basic cafe but were so pleasantly suprised by the whole experience. The initial service was great, a smiling welcome and easy order , we only ordered two sandwiches and coffees but it was quick and easy and well priced. We were taken aback by the swift and lovely service and the quality of the sandwiches, especially the lovely fresh bread.Overall it was a brilliant lunchtime experience, we'll be back.

Revolution Southend

Went for the first time on Thursday evening, didn't expect many people, so that was how it was...Tried the £2.99 fish and chips: it was £3 meal quality but filled a hole.The women's toilets were lots of fun with their disco button ? Shame not so much fun in the men's, but were very clean!Drinks were a bit expensive but I guess that's likely the case in most places nowadays, but I don't go out enough to compare fairly.All in all, it's a decent place, plenty of room and ample drinks selection

Only just moved to the village couple of weeks ago but been here a few times before when we digit for daughter and son in law ,yes nice food needs a bit more spice I had a jalfezi the other day not one green chilli in it bit disappointed alright not spicy enough though.Had takeaway last week ordered chicken tikka dansak no onions but unfortunately I was picking out onions and they told me week before they don't put onions in dansak only onion gravy ? but all in all not bad for an Indian not the best I've had but also not the worst , ok.

Salsa Tapas & Grill

We went here to celebrate my partners birthday and had an amazing time. Food was an 8/10 but the service is what made the experience so memorable! We were served by a lovely Portuguese waitress in the red shirt all night (unfortunately we did not catch her name). One guest has a gluten allergy and was wonderfully catered for, with the waitress and chef checking all of the ingredients and even serving a dish with the sauce on the side so this guest could still enjoy the food.Would definitely come back here again and will recommend it to others!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free guest very well catered for!

La Petite Petanque

I have always loved this place - The food, the service and the atmosphere are absolutely fantastic... Hadn't been for a quite a while and we weren't disappointed... Nothing much had changed food was still great, as was the service and atmosphere... The shock came when I paid the bill... Three breakfasts consisting of a full English, the bubble and squeak and eggs Benedict... Some drinks for the three of us - Bill came to £52... That included a service charge... Something I'm not fond of as we always tip... Maybe not as much as the service charge but a tips a tip... Will we return?!? Possibly... But not weekly as before because we simply couldn't afford it... Maybe as a treat... There are cheaper cafe's, not with the ambiance, in Southend but with equal quality food and service...

Honestly some of the best food I've ever had, the potato dauphinoise is to die for and there's a great range of dishes to pick from. Starters come out one at a time which is really good for sharing with friends and family.

The Polash

This is our second visit in 20 years. We seem to forget about this little gem. The food was really tasty, the staff were very helpful and attentive. The interior was clean and had a good vibe. We will definitely be returning sooner.

The Waeccer

Fall-off-the-bone FANTASTIC ribs.This delicious dish was delivered on time and nicely presented. The ribs just fall off the bone and a decent portion is provided with fries and home-made coleslaw. Amazing. Delicious. I'd prefer chunky chips to fries, but I also ordered halloumi chips and they were light and lovely. Thanks, The Waeccer. An awesome Friday night-in treat.

I cant thank this warm, welcoming restaurant enough after our recent and excellent evening spent celebrating a family birthday. After initially booking for our party, the size of the party then doubled and without any fuss the staff catered for every change thereafter. Wonderful friendly and attentive service from Maria and co through out our entire evening. Food excellent and just as advertised, all I needed to do was ask, and then staff raised to any challenge be it allergies or just about anything else the party needed ! Cant wait to return.

My husband and I went for a meal at 4:30pm on a Saturday after a shopping trip in Southend. We had been for a meal at 6:15pm last Tuesday for my birthday and it was too busy and the waitresses were struggling to cope because there wasn't enough of them. This proved to be a good idea because we were able to check through the window this time that it wasn't too busy and there were enough waitresses without booking in advance to find too busy. We had an amazing meal which was really delicious and we used multiple rewards on the Pizza Express app which also made it very good value for money.I wanted to leave this review particularly to mention our waitress for the evening. Her name is Ilona and she gave us extremely good customer service. She was very relaxed and professional and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. She also made sure that we could use the Pizza Express App at the start of the meal so that we knew exactly what our bill for the evening would be which then meant we could just relax and enjoy our meal.

I messed up an order and Claudia sorted it out so quickly for me ! What a lovely member of staff you have there , she was very patient and kind , and I noticed what a lovely atmosphere in this Nando's compared to the last time I visited years ago . She really deserves some praise !

Definitely recommend this branch, staff is very lovely and service is always fast, also quality of food never disappoints. They also have quite a few veggie options compared to other fast food restaurants.

Aasim Indian Restaurant (Former Taste of India)

Fabulous authentic and fresh food in Southend! Sounds unreal! Dosa was great, Manchurian paneer excellent, noodles typical Indian street food style. You could think you are eating at veg places in Harrow/ilford! Staff friendly and polite and happy to change around things if needed!

Oliver's on the Beach

Staff were very friendly. We order take away and the staff even brought the food to our car. It's small restaurant and wheelchairs can not go in. Maybe because it's kiosk. ☺. Food is perfect. We had fish and chips and would say its very crispy.Parking: Park in front of the kiosk. Depending of the day you visit as we went Friday lunch time and wet weather so plenty of parking.

Was a treat for my mother and I to stay there, lovely staff,we stayed in the prittlewell suite,absolutely beautiful, the room was perfect, the bed was devine and the views were fantastic,

Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe

Really lovely sweet shop. We had a night away and got the kids some sweets. They've got classics like fudge and rhubarb and custard to newer stuff like sour patch kids, toxic waste, etc. Staff were really lovely

Odells Coffee Shop

We to Odells for breakfast after I had a fasting blood test so rather go home and cook, we thought we'd give Odells a try due to the great reviews. The reviews did not lie! We both had the full English breakfast, it was cooked to perfection, and so much of it, two eggs, two sausages, masses of bacon, hash browns, black pudding, tomatoe, mushrooms, baked bean and two slices of toast. You don't have to have it all, you can choose what you do or don't want. The two women who run Odells, are friendly, they make you feel very welcome, you are treated more like guests than customers, and was obvious from the way people greeted them, that these two ladies were very popular. It will be worth having another fasting blood test as an excuse to go there again :-)

Lovely place, come here for breakfast with a friend and my son, food is amazing, service is just as good and they are really good with children. I can't believe I have found a Cafe that has nailed everything!

The Golden Lion

We didnt eat in there so cant comment on the food but we had drinks in there at around 7pm on a saturday evening. What a perfect pub. Lovely atmosphere, friendly and welcoming people. The barman was fantastic, what a nice guy and great at his job. Its a proper traditional pub, just how I like them. If I was a local this would be MY local for sure. Would 100% visit again if Im ever in the area again.

Cliffords Cafe / Coffee Shop

Went to Clifford's for the first time today for breakfast. Lovely place and staff were really friendly and accommodating. Vicky in particular was great and couldn't do enough for us! She really went above and beyond so thank you Vicky. The food was lovely, good portions and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back!

Sugar sweet candyland

Loads of vegan sweets which are clearly labelled and they even use a separate scoop! Bargain prices too. Got an advent calendar which is really generous and there’s lots of variation so it’s exciting to open each day. Feeling very lucky to have this shop nearby :)

I'm so sorry if this is an inappropriate place to put this but I'm trying to track down KEN LANE, the first owner of the business - the person who left the last lovely comment here about Adam. If anyone can help me, maybe even Ken himself will see this, please find me and get in touch. I'm his DAUGHTER, born 1984 to Jo Weeks. I've been trying for a year and a half (just when Adam found out about his sad news) so I stayed away out of respect. But life is short and who knows we may not have much time to connect for the very first time in 40 years, at least to say hello.

Great,atmospheric,busy pub. A pint of San Miguel for under £5 in Southend!!! The barmaid who served me was friendly,polite and efficient. She told me the owner was'nt greedy and so didn't overcharge. It showed. The pub was busy,with a nice relaxed atmosphere.Definitely worth a visit.

Hockley Cafe

Large portions for the gut buster breakfast seems eyes were bigger than the belly. Only down side was toilet is tiny. Overall was good and no issues for the 7 of us getting food at the same time.

The Borough Hotel

My sister had dropped me off near this pub for a look around the Southend shops, while she walked her dog on the beach. We had arranged she would pick me up 1.5 hours later. After about an hour I was back at this pub. So I Popped in for a pint of London Pride. Seems like a traditional old seaside drinking pub.. The beer was quite cloudy, but I was told it would settle, but it didn't. I was about to take it back, when my sister called to say she was done and ready to pick me up. So I never got to return my cloudy beer. Its a shame. But I will be sure to visit if I find myself near this pub again. A traditional boozer is a rare find these days.

Like a lot of FF outlets one can rely on the quality of the food and beverages totally. So good is this servery, the stock is often depleted so be the early bird if you know what you're after. Outside is a Royal Box from which to listen to the plethora of local buskers.Terrific for collapsing into mid/post shop.

My partner and I have often visited this branch and it’s lovely, there is a really special lady there called Isla who was so nice to us, just a gem of a person and made the best coffee ever, hands down. I hope her manager sees this and gives her a raise haha x
