When we saw the queue we were disheartened, but it was very quick to get seated, much better than the previous experiences of a free for all. If you are a single customer ask for a reserved ticket to put on the table whilst queuing for the bar. Staff were so very friendly and helpful it proved to be a very pleasant experience. We were so impressed at the improvements that we spoke to Ellie, the duty manager and told her so. Our only ‘moan’ is that the chairs are now very ‘tatty and tired’ looking .

Very busy but to be expected at the airport. We had breakfast which was served very quickly and enjoyed the unlimited coffee. It’s a very large pub with 2 huge floors.

I'm travelling on my own and thought I'd like to get some food before my flight. I had to queue and then was ordering at the bar and was asked what my table number was. I don't have a table number as I just got here and am not going to leave my bags etc at a table somewhere - security risk etc and this here is an airport. So I got a drink at the bar and said I'd order the food at the table. However, I was not told that it's not possible as "Mobile ordering is currently unavailable. Please place your order at the bar." when I tried ordering via the app.Leaving 2 stars as the drink was OK.Avoid when travelling alone.A week after the above I was again at Stansted airport thinking I'd give this place another go.This time I was asked "Have you been here before? Are you here for food or drinks?" right before entry. I figured it's some sort of survey so ignored it and didn't answer at first. But the lady was firmly in front of me and kept questioning without explaining her reasons for this. It was confusing. Then I told her that "yes I've been here before".Then some people from behind me started cackling and saying there's a queue and that's when I understood what this was all about. If only the first lady (I presume an employee) had had the intelligence to ask me to join the queue rather than start a confusing poll.Anywho, another negative experience and now changing my rating to 1 star.

Whetherspoon pub at the airport. Shame they've now abandoned order from the app. You now queue at the bar for food and drinks. May 2020. Pretty good service though to be fair. Nice bit of cheap fast food and few beers before ya flight. Gotta be done!

As a single traveler, I didn’t want to get a table & leave my bags unattended, & then queue to order, I asked how to order food without a table number & was advised to speak to a customer service guy in the restaurant. (David) What a brilliant service, he showed me to a table, put a “reserved “ sign on it & promptly took my order & payment thus avoiding leaving valuables unattended. Such a great service I’ve taken time to write this review, thanks again David @ Wetherspoons Stansted.

There were only two bar staff on duty on the top floor. There was was a long queue and it took ages to get a couple of drinks. It took a while to work out how to get a coffee. This was not a happy experience and the place felt grotty, I would avoid this place if I ever have the misfortune to visit Stanstead airport again.

Over 2 floors and very busy but quick service. Food choices okay and quality as expected, no issues. Large section closed off which was strange

Waited at line marked queue, gave up, went inside, told to find a table and order at bar. Tried to order on app but failed, went to bar. Immediately faced with a giant of a man, clearly a night club bouncer by trade. He had a very small vocabulary comprising of the word "queue" which he gladly interupted everyword i said. Apparently there was supposed to be a queue at the end of the bar, presumably where i stood before and was ignored, but now no queue. "Queue" grunted the bouncer endlessly, more menacing teach time. I gave up, queue or no queue, attened to whwre the sign says it is, teach your staff some manners, and stop employing Hulk lookalikes. You cant reason with stupidity and inbred rudeness.

We always plan to have breakfast here, we consider it the start of our holiday. However, I think due to press about long delays at security, everyone arrived very early, the place was packed, to make matters worse a complete section of the upstairs was closed off, the app was not available to customers for ordering so old fashioned queuing was back on. The food was okay, but I am sure the prices have changed significantly. Don't know whether we'll bother next time.

David the host was great from the start. Asset to the restaurant and was outstanding. Can't fault him, he went the extra mile. Give the man a pay raise. He ordered the double vodkas for us and we didn't even move off our seats.

Really nice atmosphere. Great place to come and sit for your flight. Better than the seating in the terminal. Typical Wetherspoons pub. Good food and drinks. Plenty of seating - don’t let the queue put you off as it went down really quick!

The small breakfast I had was very good & delivered to table in about 10 minutes.Pity the app wasn't working as the queue @ bar to order @ about 6 a.m. was about 15 long.Would recommend.

I have passed this bar / restaurant on previous trips through Stansted Airport, without venturing indoors. While working through a crowded departure lounge, with young children, I spotted a member of the Windmill Team, who clearly enjoyed his role and was working hard to welcome another family. I approached David, who was totally charming and accommodating - he navigated the crowded restaurant and did not give up - until he found us a place to rest and recharge! Everyone needs a David when travelling ?. A very pleasant meal followed - hearty and tasty …. seeing us off, into the next chapter of our journey. I would happily recommend and will return again.

On our trips from Stansted, one of the pluses is brekkie (with a pint) at The Windmill. Always good quality, for its price, and friendly service. One let down on this occasion was that the app for table ordering was not working. Therefore, a loss of one star. Table ordering is very useful for the sole traveller. Tables were spotlessly clean and the guys and gals were running around clearing up continuously.
