Popped in midweek evening this week for a family meal. Food was superb, fillet steak was the best I have had in years. It was busy suggest booking which we did. Hadn’t been before would definitely recommend and will return now we have found this gem.

Family of four ate here. In general food was very good but one of us had the sea bream which was a very small portion and gone in a couple of bites. The Italian waitress was superb.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here this evening. Definitely would recommend. Lovely food, friendly staff and a menu that catered for my family which includes two fairly fussy kids.

We visited here after a busy family day. We were further away from home than usual so didn't know the area and decided to give the wood grill a try. We were not left disappointed. Food was amazing and catered for all of us including my husband who has a few food intolerances and two fussy kids. Portion sizes were good, the staff were very nice and we would definitely recommend.

We visited on Wednesday evening and the place was packed which is a very good sign, the food was excellent, the service we received from the lady manager was the best I’ve seen in a long time and the atmosphere was terrific.

It is very well decorated and a nice atmosphere the service lacked thought and attention one of our starters didn’t arrive and we had to remind the waiter then I asked for some ketchup with my burger and it didn’t arrive until they were clearing the main course dishes and they forgot my granddaughter’s ice cream the only thing I can say is the food was good

Good from arrival to departure, this is a great pub. Located on the main road in Stansted Mountfitchet, a village that is full of various restaurants, this place is worth visiting. All the staff were good and friendly with a professional flair. The restaurant has a good vibe about itself being small, quaint and homely, toilets are clean & tidy too. The good quality ingredients made for a superb starters. For the main courses we had the sirloin steak dish and the sea bass recommended by the waiter, again these were excellent in taste, presentation and quality. Served on hot plates! The restaurant has a decent list of wines and all prices are ok. We went for a very good Chenin Blanc white at £30/bottle and it was good. Overall, after multiple visits, we rate it 8/10 on our table of 2 and it was good pub value for money at £89 with the superb white wine & beers.

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at The Wood Grill. No reservations but accommodated with a round table in the corner. I’m assuming, the owner warmly greeted me and seated me in the aforementioned table.\\n\\nThe atmosphere was great. One group celebrating a birthday, a couple having a quiet dinner, a family with a baby in a stroller enjoying a pizza, 5 young ladies enjoying dinner, and me the one loner wish his wife here.\\n\\nI had the rack of lamb, medium and perhaps would go medium rare next time. The lamb came topped with a mint sauce and for sides, green beans, new potatoes, and a roasted garlic clove. To finish off, I had a latte.\\n\\nOverall great experience and good food in a very warm restaurant away from home.\\n\\n#airlinepilotlife

The sort of place that prints the menu on the same paper as is used for the place mat. Reminiscent of a typical American restaurant diner. Good ambience, lots of people, popular. Good variety on the menu, meat dishes done well. Veg a bit secondary though.

The food was sooo good. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t! Our starters came out with our mains! My 8 year old sons food came 20 mins after the rest! He ended up eating half of mine. It took so long for dessert order to be taken we gave up! After waiting 20 mins I had to ask for my change as I definitely wasn’t leaving a £20 tip!
