I was dressed in full walking gear visiting a pub in the middle of a forest to ask if they could kindly help me out with charging as my phone was flat. I had no way of getting home and was met with a very kurt and rude no. Didn't even let me finish my sentence. Have many friends working in pubs and hospitality who have no issue with helping out with charging phones behind the bar even for just 10 minutes. Not a particularly welcoming place after a 5 hour hike. Would suggest any hikers stop off at the Robin Hood whose bar staff was lovely and cheerful and helped me out

I had my daughters surprise 18th in the Oak Lounge. I'm a missive fan of this venue and have lost count how may times i've booked this venue. The events team, staff and even the security helped me manage to pull off the best surprise party ever. The bar staff, Molly and Anabel were amazing, so polite and professional and very attentive. Hus and Fin were really helpful and made sure everything was ticking over as it should. Security staff were also so lovely and helpful in making sure the surprise was a surprise and everyone was ok getting home. The whole events team and gorgeously located venue really do have coming back to book my events time and time again. Love you all and for all that you do in helping creating the perfect memories.

We came here on the 30/06/2022 for a leavers party/prom. All I can say is what an amazing venue! The staff are really lovely and friendly and they provide an amazing service. I would really recommend the Kings oak hotel! ?

I was so grateful to find this place. Brilliantly situated at the peak after a moderate climb. Beautiful view of the Epping tree tops. Pleasantly surprised to find they serve vegan Beyond burgers and ice cold slush puppies! Warm, welcoming, jovial staff. Toilets!

Nice pub but, for me poor choice of beers. I’m all about nice craft beer and this just doesn’t offer that. Nice setting though in Epping Forest and relatively decent menu. If you don’t like what’s on it , you can always get food from the nearby Oyster shack which is absolutely amazing.

Great spot in the sun yesterday to unwind from a hard day's work. Staff were super friendly and food pretty decent too. Will come again with our little one and friends for them to use the play area.

Fantastic venue & amazing staff

It's nicely situated, bit chaotic when busy and overpriced for the quality. £9+ for a cheese board with nothing special or unique was a bit pricey...no pickles either.

The young kids need training, you ask for a pint and instead of pouring the pint, while you arrange the cash, they stand and stare at you, no good when busy. Then when you pull them up on this, they nearly bust out crying.

Really disappointed with the attitude of the waiting staff today. They interrupted our meeting to show clients around the venue without an apology. The pre-requested food choice was limited and a communication error on their part saw one of our elderly members have his meal snatched away and the correct one replaced. No apology again. Really poor.

I got married here on the 29th april 2022, the staff were amazing from beggining to end, I could not have asked for a more supportive, professional and caring team to have been there for me on my big day, they really could not have done anymore than they did, thank you so much to the team xxx

Took my parents for Sunday Lunch, at the Kings Oak Gastro Pub, weather was lovely for March. Booked a table and the lady was lovely on the phone, arrived to a busy outside area and a happy buzz. The table was a bit dated but ok. Velvet chairs cringe (I hate velvet) besides that the ambients was nice. Went up to the tills to order our food. Guy taking the order was friendly. Ordered Scotch Steak for my Dad, KO Chicken burger with cheese and bacon for mum and myself. Starters tandoori chicken wings and shrimps for my parents. The weird thing was that our main meal came before our starter.. that was confusing and then they brought the starters all at once. I guess that’s how they do it in High Beach. The 3 stars comes from the overall experience. The food was a 3 out of 5 as well.

Owner very disrespectful of disabled people. Took my disabled friend with small mobility scooter - unable to get the scooter into the pub because of the step so left it out of the way behind the closed, locked entrance door (the other door was open). The owner wanted to change over which door was open and which was locked. My friend observed this and said to her that he needed to move his scooter - she brashly proceeded to bang the door against his scooter, then try to move his scooter. She had no idea how it worked! They are expensive and have a manual brake. She knew who it belonged to but did not have the decency to ask him if she could move it - it's private property. I was furious and indignant with her ignorance and arrogance and moved it myself. Although they have a disabled toilet inside the pub, he was unable to use it as he needed his scooter to get there - he couldn't make it. It's very sad as some disabled people only get out occasionally and this woman's attitude is not only very hurtful but can discourage from wanting to go out. They have to deal with their loss of dignity and disability on a daily basis. I will with other disabled friends be avoiding this place. Shame on her!
