Ting Tong Thai Cafe
1 Darby Dr, Waltham AbbeyMy husband found this restaurant for my birthday. We are new to the area and miss our previous "favourite " Thai restaurant in South London. This place satisfied so well. We had eyes larger than our stomachs but the restaurant happily wrapped our remaining food to take home. Glad we found this

From the moment of enquiry right through to the end, Ellie was super helpful and keen to accommodate all our wishes to make the party a great success. Buffet was excellent quality and exactly what we wanted. Had family photos showing on the tv and perfect background music playing. The birthday boy had a great time. The Black Swan Nazeing
Common Rd, Roydon, Waltham AbbeyWe had a great lunch here, The Black Swan is the perfect place to spend your afternoon. The choice of lunchtime food is very good and some available on large or small plates so if you are on a diet you can opt for a small plate but be warned they are still very good portions. We opted for garlic mushrooms and then Turkey and leek pie with mashed potatoes, carrots and peas on a small plate which was well cooked and well presented however we both were unable to finish. Unfortunately when presented with a very tempting sweat board we were simply unable participate so when we will revisit we will skip the starters. Ample free parking, lovely atmosphere, great friendly service. Just a few minutes from Harlow well worth a visit, but check on their website for opening times and forthcoming Afternoon Teas.

Le Spice
1 Arlingham Mews, Sun St, Waltham AbbeyThis is the best Indian Restaurant ever.Food, service and food presentation is 2nd to none. Sabir is a lovely guy and explains every dish in detail if we have any questions.Very worthy winners for their Guardian award. The best I can say about Le Spice is that we moved 1 hour drive away to Colchester and travel down frequently just to visit Le Spice. A 2 hour round trip is a huge compliment.Vegetarian options: I am not a vegitarian, but the food is so delicious in here, I could so easily become one.Parking: Free parking after 6pm in the car park 2 mins walk away and free parking just out the back after 6.30pm.Kid-friendliness: We didnt have our child tonight but have been many times with him and he's always made to feel very welcome.

The Plough
Sewardstone Rd, Waltham AbbeyEnjoyable experience, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great food and good range of drinks / beers on tap.No need to book ahead, can turn up and be seated. Pub is dog/animal friendly and as a result saw quite a few dogs happily inside! They have a normal menu and also a specials menu which we ordered from. Having been a few times now the portion size sometimes differs (possibly a different chef :) ). Also seemed to not have quite a few different things on the menu when we went to order so double check to avoid disappointment!Saw they do hosting for large groups too for anyone looking for larger group bookings. All in all would recommend!

Wheatsheaf
Crooked Mile, Waltham AbbeyA nice children friendly pub on the edge of Waltham Abbey. There is a car park to the side. A large beer garden with decking welcomes customers who want to sit outside. The inside is clean and tidy with various areas to sit. If you like pool you're in luck as there is a table near the entrance. Food is offered here but I only popped in for a drink.
