Enjoyable lunch here on the 20/3/24. There was only one lady there today but she did an amazing job. Well done to

This is a nice place to stop for tea and cake after a wander around the antique shops.Hot food and ice creams were also available, but a pot of tea suited us!Staff were pleasant, and the cake was good. I'm sure we will be back again, perhaps to try the food menu!Parking: Free parking is available outside and nearby. It was fairly busy however, you may need to try the other car park nearer to the bridge or nearby street parking.

Lovely little tearoom, the ladies are soo helpful. My daughter has auto immune disease which means although not allergic, there are things her body can't tolerate and honestly, they were so helpful with this and didn't make her feel awkward or a nuisance! Been several times now highly recommended.

I met a few friends for the morning in battlesbridge. We had bacon sandwiches and coffee at lunchtime. The food and drinks were excellent and the staff were lovely. I can't fault anything and will be coming back here with my wife.

As per my previous review when we came here last year we were very disappointed with the quality of the food which seems to have gone down hill since the granddaughter has taken it over. We thought maybe it had improved. Not so. We popped in and looked over the menu, half of it is missing and the prices are up by 30%! A single scone with cream and jam is now £4.00. Bear in mind that these are not freshly made as they were before. Jump to the breakfast and the prices are extortionate. Between 8 and £11.00 for a breakfast which does not include any hot drink. We literally got up and left. The portions do not warrant the price at all. On speaking to a trader at the Centre she informed me that the granddaughter has had a lot of renovation done in the kitchen so is probably trying to recover the money! Yes I get that electricity etc is up, yes I get that food is up but really nigh on doubling the prices form last year is ridiculous especially when you are getting less for your money. Wont be going back as I cant see it getting any better.

Not as expected by the reviews I read, maybe because we went on a Saturday and it was Saturday staff or we went to the wrong place entirely..... although the sign said "Haybarn tea room" only glad I went to check it out before taking my friend for what I thought would be a special treat for her birthday

Quaint place for a friendly approach to getting a drink. Quick service in a homely cafe setting

It’s always a treat to visit the barn on a warm spring day, the staff are forever friendly and kind offering a wide range of classic tea room treats and refreshing drinks at a honest price. I could even bring my pooch for a sit in the shade because they even offered him a water bowl bless their hearts. And the views and scenery is second to none in Essex, a classic English tea room with warming heritage vibes ! 6/5 stars !!

Dreadful food. Had a sausage roll, 2 scones and cream and 2 cups of tea. The sausage roll was heated in the microwave, the pastry was soggy and disgusting. It was like eating a wet sock. In all honesty I should have sent it back. The scones were average and the cream smelt like cheese, we left most of these. The tea was served in mugs, you’d expect in a tea room to get it in teapots and be able to pour it yourself and add your own milk. The tea itself tasted cheap and of low quality just like the food. This place has got it all wrong. The staff themselves were friendly but other than this, we couldn’t say anything else positive. Don’t waste your money.

Visited Saturday 23rd October 2021. Been once before, it was only fair service, but to be honest we were stranded and desperate for coffee and breakfast. We arrived at 10am. after 5 minute wait were told they weren't ready to do food but would get us a drink. We ordered a coffee and a tea and sat waiting. We could hear the staff in the next room talking about going out that night, that they need to eat rice, potatoes or bread to help them soak up the alcohol. the drinks arrived, after about 8 minutes, then the owner (or manager) took out order. we ordered one full breakfast and one double egg on toast with tomatoes. About 20 minutes later the full breakfast arrived. Had to go ask for condiments. Full breakfast eaten, still waiting for second breakfast. Gave them another ten minutes then gave up. It wasn't coming was it. Went to the counter, with £10 to cover the 1 breakfast and two drinks. The young girl looked baffled at my husband. She said 'that's £16.' not £10. I said, no, I havent even had my breakfast delivered. She said, oh, you should have reminded us. I said that it's not our job to remind you about our order. You were all too busy gossiping. you are getting £10 to cover what we had and that you are all useless. She just stared as us so we walked away. Avoid like the plague, unless you want to keep having to remind them to fulfill your order, and you can bear the idle gossip. Absolutely appalling. It's terrible customer service. The manager needs sacking, unless she is the owner, if she is, she needs to find another vocation.

Lovely cafe... friendly staff, gorgeous outside space. We had afternoon tea and sat under a big tree. Reasonably priced. Love being served in pretty cups... scones were homemade...✨

I booked a afternoon tea for my mums 60th birthday last week for 2 people. Unfortunately we went into the 2nd lockdown, i spoke with the owner a lovely lady (Joan i think her name was!), she was so accommodating. I was told i could move the date when lockdown had finished or get a full refund.... Well Joan and me came to arrangement that she would make it as a take away not to ruin my mums birthday lunch. Joan met me at the closed gate this morning and handed over scones, jam, cream, a variety of cakes and freshly made sandwiches. I dropped them off to my mum for lunch and she was over the moon. She said they was absolutely beautiful and fresh. Joan even went to the effort of lending me the 3 tiered cake / sandwich stand for me to present them to her. If i could give you more than 5 stars i would. You made my mums 60th birthday lunch amazing! Thank you so much for all your effort. Once this virus has gone and lockdown is over i will bringing the whole family to your Tea room!! Thank you again in such a dark time you really made her day xx
