Popped in for a cream tea, it was just right. Lovely warm light scone (big!), generous pot of good tea with enough milk and great, friendly service. Thank you

I must admit this has an unusual atmosphere- it feels like a cafe in a shop. We were the first guests of the day and there was an overwhelming breakfast / grease smell. It’s pleasantly situated by the river. We had coffees and when they were served I thought it was odd I hadn’t heard the milk frother (cafe was empty and silent). When I paid I saw the coffee vending type machine in the kitchen ! I think that’s unacceptable. What made me increase the score to 3 were the absolutely lovely staff.

Disappointing brunch today. We stopped off at Green and Pleasant a few years ago when we first moved into Bourton some years ago, was unimpressed then but gave it the benefit of the doubt today. How wrong we were. We first asked for the Christmas bap with the advertised gravy on the side so we could add our own. We were told the gravy came in the bun prepared which should have been our first warning that there was some pretty heavy and hefty microwave action going on. When paying upfront (our next warning!) I heard the so called chefs in the kitchen pretty much yelling out to each other in their conversation so customers could hear them how long things should take to microwave. How many chefs does it take to microwave a bap, you ask. Very unprofessional. Drinks arrived and my drink got spattered into my husband's coffee as it was set down by the waitress. She did apologize and took the coffee away to replace... ah no I meant, taken away to scoop the froth and milk off it and hand back with half the coffee missing. The food was ok, we were quite hungry and didnt want to make a fuss.. in fact we wanted to eat, get the hell out of there, and next time return to the Croft next door who know their locals and aren't just churning out on mass for the tourist trade. Now the tearoom can live without our return custom and can probably survive without half the locals here too. But it is a poor show when the little things aren't guarded and ensure that customer service and quality is key in the face of poor staff training, passable food, and just not a good atmosphere.

Average coffee , poor stale cake. In a town where tomorrows tourists will be the next customers, they obviously think they don't have to provide quality. No attempt to gain a customers loyalty.

Worst cream tea I’ve ever had,not proper scone, more like bread texture, very large scone ,but unfortunately size isn’t everything, would rate 2 out of 10

Not very "pleasant" unfortunately ?. I had the BLT light bites roll. The bacon was mainly all fat and had been fried until it was hard. A few bits of tomato and lettuce was ok but the Cotswolds roll was just any old bap out of a packet. I left all of the bacon. Very disappointing.

Situated in the charming Burton on the Water, this cafe is an ideal spot for breakfast or brunch. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, complete with ambient lighting that adds to the authentic old-English cafe vibe. The staff is not only friendly but also attentive. The menu offers a good range of options at reasonable prices. I opted for the fish and chips, which I’d rate a 6.5 out of 10. One drawback was the cleanliness of the utensils, prompting me to eat with my hands instead.Overall, this is a cozy establishment where you can enjoy quality time in a comfortable setting.

The range of options for Gluten Free was amazing! Thank you for making my choice for lunch a decision, I usually have no choice at all!

Gluten free salad was simply cold pieces of chicken on leaves, no dressings and no other veg, just lettuce and chicken! Also ordered a side of fries and they were stale and just awful. Salad also had gritty bits inside! I’ve never left a plate when eating out but this was absolutely awful! AVOID

Flat white had half the coffee content and tasted of old burnt coffee machine. Salt shaker was rusted and dirty. Fish and chips underwhelming. Gf wasn't impressed with the scones... Lovely location and reasonably friendly staff though

They advertised cream teas therefore went in to relax after a long walk. I prefer fruit scones but my wife will only have plain. I asked when ordering and was advised that they only had fruit scones. Therefore we ordered a scone cream tea for me and a lemon drizzle cake for my wife. The scone that arrived was a plain one (not a good start), I tried explaining this to the lady that brought it but she did not seem to understand so I decided to have it anyway (second mistake). The scone was dry and stale; no matter how much cream I tried would help, I therefore left it. The lemon drizzle cake was nice though. Upon leaving, I tried to explain about the fact that it was plain and not fruit as well as being a dry and stale scone but was met with a torrent of abuse. A lady flew through from the kitchen to tell me that she had made them that morning (not a pleasant person). If that was the case then they were over-baked or the recipe was wrong. Regardless, a modicum of manners would have been welcome rather than abuse. I wholeheartedly DO NOT RECOMMEND this tea room and definitely not the scones.

We waited over 40 minutes for our food which came out one at a time. Beans we're straight out the tin as not even luke warm, nachos we're stone cold.Young staff didn't seem to know what they were doing & when asked when the rest of the food was coming they shrugged their shoulders & walked away. The chicken bacon & avocado salad contained hardly any bacon & 1 tiny peice of avocado.Cutlery was hard to get hold of.Tables were getting the wrong food - people who had only just ordered getting other peoples food. Chaos & it wasn't massively busy.We should of sent the food back but after waiting so long for it we decided to eat what we could & leave. On a plus the sweet potato fries we're nice - the rest of it wasn't nice at all.The young lad was the only pleasant member of staff.

The cutlery and glasses were dirty, staff were nice though. The food was a massive disappointment. My brother ordered fish and chips, and the cod was slimy, grey , unpleasant and slid straight out of the batter. We could not let him eat that. My daughter tried the halloumi too, I thought that would be good but it was deep fried, very crunchy but rubbery on the inside. Overall, a massive letdown and I probably would not go again. Sorry.
