Restaurants in Bourton-on-the-water
The Den
The Den Unit 4, High St, Bourton-on-the-WaterI'd highly recommend the Den, as the service was excellent, the menu vast and good value and my wife and I had two excellent freshly made to order baguettes (1 bacon, brie and cranberry and 1 vegan halloumi, avocado and sun dried tomato). If you can get a table at the side of the shop I'd recommend it as it's a great sun trap.

Smiths
Smiths, Victoria St, CheltenhamStopped by Smiths and wow… where has this place been all my life?
I went all in with the MR P burger and the chicken tenders—both absolutely ridiculous (in the best possible way). The burger was juicy, stacked with flavour, and dangerously close to ruining all other burgers for me. The tenders? Crispy, juicy, and the kind of thing you say you’ll share but absolutely won’t.
Now I’m properly intrigued, if this isn’t even their top burger, I need to know what the two that beat it are doing. I’ll be back on a mission.
Also… whoever’s in charge of the playlist deserves a pay rise. Absolute bangers from start to finish, honestly needs to be put on Spotify so the rest of us can enjoy it at home.
Didn’t catch the names of the two waitresses (rookie error on my part), but they were brilliant: friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better.
Top food, top vibes, top place. Go hungry

The Cornish Bakery
High St, Bourton-on-the-Water, CheltenhamI came here for both breakfast and lunch. Ordered an almond croissant and traditional pasty and both were delicious. The pasty was popping hot even and the prices are so incredibly reasonable considering the amazing location. All the staff are incredibly sweet and welcoming.
The only thing that I will say, is that the almond croissant was filled with fruit jam? which was a little disappointing. Nonetheless, will definitely be coming again.

THE ROYAL BREAKFAST & KEBAB
R6FG+38, CheltenhamWe wanted to try this highly reviewed spot and it didn't disappoint! Stopped on the way to Gloucester and received generous portions of tasty food with friendly service. Ate our döners standing at the window of the van, couldn't help but make a mess with just a fork. Would definitely go again!

Cotswolds Distillery Shop
2, The Forge, High St, Bourton-on-the-WaterI visited the @CotswoldsDistil last Saturday and it was unforgettable. Set in stunning countryside, the distillery feels rooted in its landscape – stone cottages, rolling fields, and whisky that carries those same floral, herbal notes. The drams were rich with honey, orchard fruit and spice, smooth yet full of character. What stood out most was the passion of the team – every cask and every pour told a story. If you love whisky, this place is a must.

Venezia Italian Restaurant Bourton
Riverside, Bourton-on-the-Water, CheltenhamThe food was amazing. Very well prepared and a lovely presentation. However they lack in courtesy to dining guests. We were ignored for what seemed a very long time before they acknowledged our presence. Servers came and went without saying anything. Unfortunately for a family run restaurant.

JACKSON'S APARTMENT
Moore Rd, Bourton-on-the-Water, CheltenhamThis was by far a great choice for our family. The apartment is spacious and clean. It is super central to the small village so ideally located. The apartment has everything you need from a fully fitted kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a lovely lounge and dining room. The beds were super comfy, we just loved them! Everything about this apartment was perfect. The only hiccup was as foreigners we did not know how to use the heating system correctly, so clear info concerning that would be great. Would recommend!

Aroma Bangladeshi Restaurant and Takeaway
Station Rd, Bourton-on-the-Water, CheltenhamWhat an excellent curryhouse. I attended Aromas with a few of my UK friends who are serious curry afficionados All stated that their curry dishes were the best curries they have had in the UK for more than ten years. We sat upstairs in a charming restaurant and were warmly attended to by the owner Abdul. If you in Bourton this is a must visit. I still have the wonderful flavours stored in my taste memory bank. Thanks again Abdul for your warm friendship I will be back when we next return from South Africa

La Reine
High St, Bourton-on-the-Water, CheltenhamFood was okay, however curry sauce on the spud was like water. Nearly zero phone signal at location, and restaurant refuse to let you use phones or laptops in the restaurant (as per signs) - not very tourist friendly. The other cafes with WiFi were packed - so maybe allowing it would give you better trade, as you were very very quiet.

The Mousetrap Inn
Lansdowne, Lansdown, Bourton-on-the-Water, CheltenhamServers are really nice! I loved the sourdough and hummus. You walk in think it is just going to be a normal pub, but it seems like a really nice restaurant and it's beautiful with all the flowers.

The Old Manse
Victoria St, Bourton-on-the-Water, CheltenhamThe view at The Old Manse was really calming and enjoyable. It felt open, quiet, and gave a nice break from the usual busy environment. Sitting and looking around was actually quite relaxing, especially during the quieter parts of the day. It added a peaceful touch to the whole stay and made the experience feel more refreshing overall.

Green & Pleasant Tea Rooms
Windrush Cottage, Riverside, CheltenhamSituated in the charming Burton on the Water, this cafe is an ideal spot for breakfast or brunch. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, complete with ambient lighting that adds to the authentic old-English cafe vibe. The staff is not only friendly but also attentive. The menu offers a good range of options at reasonable prices. I opted for the fish and chips, which I’d rate a 6.5 out of 10. One drawback was the cleanliness of the utensils, prompting me to eat with my hands instead.Overall, this is a cozy establishment where you can enjoy quality time in a comfortable setting.
