“4 of us plus two dogs. We did ring ahead to reserve a table but it was Thursday night and not rammed so the booking probably wasn't necessary. Food absolutely excellent. Between us we had sweet and sour chicken, beef lasagne, and chicken curry. Big portions and extremely tasty. Service very prompt and staff all extremely friendly. Highly recommended would definitely go again.”

“Small pub with a great range of craft beers,traditional ciders and a collection of gin and fruit gin. Lovely staff a welcoming and tidy pub. We had a great time, pints of Bristol Brewery Summer Crush was a winner for me lovely selection of white wines for my wife.Highly recommend if you like craft ales.”

“This is akin to the first pub I was taken to, in 1953 in Hertfordshire.No bright lights just warm and welcoming. If you want to sit and think, you can. If you want a natter over your pint, then your hosts will provide good conversation and a huge knowledge of beer and the brewing industry. A constantly changing beer selection and no musak. This pub is spot on perfect.”

“Stayed on a Monday night while visiting family near by. What a find!! Lovely rooms and great food being served on the "pot luck " half price Monday evening service. Staff were friendly and efficient , nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent, localy sourced bacon and sausages which tasted superb. Best breakfasts we have had while staying away for a long time. We will definitely be staying here again when visiting family in the Forest.”
