Stayed on a Monday night while visiting family near by. What a find!! Lovely rooms and great food being served on the "pot luck " half price Monday evening service. Staff were friendly and efficient , nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent, localy sourced bacon and sausages which tasted superb. Best breakfasts we have had while staying away for a long time. We will definitely be staying here again when visiting family in the Forest.

Booked this hotel as it’s nice and central to my family & the mountain bike centre. Very comfortable hotel and staff helpful & friendly. Had a small issue after checking in but the staff quickly dealt with the issue. Breakfast was one of the best very filling and fresh local produce. Could do with some more comfortable seating just for bar use but that’s not a major problem. Plenty of parking as well. Definitely visit again when back in the Forest

We dropped by The Minors at Sling for Sunday lunch with friendsThis is one of those traditional country pubs that is so hard to find these daysThere were four of us and we had two good sized Sunday roasts; beef and pork with crackling, Yorkshire puddings, gravy and mountains of fresh vegetables. It was delivered to the table and we carved it ourselves which was rather fun.The staff were delightful, so courteous and welcoming. The food really was excellent, cooked to perfection and there were so many charming and thoughtful little touches which told us that the staff really cared and wanted to produce very special meals for everybodyWe didn’t have room for pudding but we had them anyway. Each plate was a masterpiece of beautifully presented food.This was a truly delicious, very special meal and I can’t not recommend The Minors more highly.

Fantastic initiative - buying leftover stock from local producers and whatever they happen to get on the Monday, they'll make it into a fantastic meal that night at very reasonable prices. Incredibly hard-working, innovative, staff are lovely and our room was lovely and spotless. Would definitely recommend.

This is a really good idea - the bar owners buy leftover stock from local producers and make a quality meal at a very reasonable price out of whatever they happen to get. The owners and staff are lovely and our room was attractive and spotless. Would definitely recommend.

We visited as a family. We were seated quickly and three of us ordered steak. The two sirloin steaks were good but not great and the waiting staff couldn’t remember which was the rare and which was the medium rare, switching plates more than once. My son ended up scoffing my rare steak without realising. The main issue however was that my husband was served an ‘off’ steak. The meat smelled a bit odd but he tried it anyway and the meat had gone bad. These things happen and we simply asked politely for it to be changed,but the waitress was very dismissive and didn’t apologise once. We weren’t charged but a simple apology on behalf of the kitchen and a timely replacement would have been all that was required. The replacement was slow and delivery was surly. The rest of us has finished and tue atmosphere ruined by the time it arrived and so the dog ended up with most of the (perfectly acceptable) replacement steak.

Absolutely amazing local food at unpretentious prices. I was very satisfied with the steak + brownie offer.The steak sauces got mixed up, but we avoided catastrophe as both were cooked rare so it only required a plate swap.

Excellent food and really great service. The staff were all really friendly and welcoming. We visited on a whim as we were driving past around dinner time, they were very accommodating and found a table for us straight away. Oh and because we went on Monday it was their pot luck menu which meant 50% off food. Result! Really tasty food. Thanks so much :)

Honestly one of the best Sunday roasts ever! Love the fact your given hot plates & a butcher board to carve your own meat honestly the best! Everything so tasty & home cooked definitely 10/10 for me! And the service incredible & lovely friendly staff all smiles highly recommended:) many
Despite the modest exterior the food and atmosphere were excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient and there was a great buzz about the place. Booking advised, especially on Monday nights where food is discounted.

The Miners Sling was the nearest local to our holiday accommodation, so we booked it for a meal out, not realising what an excellent choice we had made. Wev all four enjoyed our meals, fishcakes, mushroom and spinach risotto and mussels. Service was also good. They have various special deals on different nights. On a Thursday when we went there was a choice of about 4 main meals at £10 each.

Wonderful Sunday lunch. There were four of us and we all opted for the beef which was brought to the table for us to carve ourselves. We had asked for it pink and it was. It melted in our mouths! We had proper roast potatoes, new potatoes and a good selection of veg as well as Yorkshire puds and proper gravy. All was lovely and the staff were friendly and efficient. We couldn’t fault anything and it was good value too. I just wished I lived round here as I would certainly be a regular.

We went with some local friends who have been before and they booked Sunday lunch. It was amazing, excellent roast chicken and the trimmings. The red cabbage was lovely and wonderfully crisp roast potatoes. My husband had the veggie option of apricot and veg crumble which he said was very good. The other delightful thing that we could do was take our dog with us, who I have to say behaved impeccably. Well recommended.
