Extremely disappointing. Overpriced and sub standard quality. Was told by the waiter the sausages were richmond! Brie starter was fried for so long there was just the crumb shell left. Chicken burgers were dry and inedible. You could knock someone out with gammon steak and see the video for the state of the egg. The bar staff done their best but I think a new chef and /or food supplier is needed asap. We got a few meals taken off the bill but safe to say my nans 90th was a little sad.

Staying at forest holidays for the weekend and this pub was recommended on their website so thought we would book a table for 9 of us. Very charming pub and very welcoming bar staff but food was terrible, I think this was the worst food I’ve ever had out. The lasagne tasted like a Tesco ready meal and the chicken burgers were inedible as deep fried for clearly a lot longer that normal. All of the food just tasted like it had been reheated and not even cooked by chefs. Think I could have done a better job myself. Managed to get some money off bill (food was also quite pricey!) as most of the food was untouched. We left the pub very hungry and disappointed. Such a shame as could be a lovely place.

Good pub with decent beer and food. The cod and chips was OK but the steak and kidney pie with mash and gravy was fantastic. Pleasant atmosphere and helpful and friendly staff.

We went for Sunday lunch, the ‘mega’ option was very nice.. and massive! The lovely staff looked after us really well, chatted and had fun with our kids and generally made us feel welcome. Perfect.

Amazing traditional pub. Great beer, amazing food and wonderful hospitality. Big thank to you Teresa for her great service and welcoming smile. Dined on a Thursday, it was so good that I had to go back on Friday and Saturday

Good quality traditional pub food at reasonable prices. It was a bit chilly so had to keep a coat on. But they did have an open fire on the other side of the pub. It was just a bit far away from us to make a difference.

After a long day of walking stumbled across this little gem ? Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was reasonably priced freshly cooked and good quality (soup was banging). My only disappointment is that I don't live closer so I could come back more often ...

Booked here whilst staying in the local area for a Sunday roast, initial enquiry and booking over the phone were pleasant. We arrived and ordered some drinks before taking a seat at the table, we waited half an hour at the table before one of the party went up to check whether we were supposed to order at the bar or whether it was table service. One of the staff then came to take our order at which point we were told some of the meat options were unavailable, half of the table wanted this. To have to chase to be served to begin with and only then be told that menu items were unavailable is just poor.Food took a further half an hour to come, over an hour after we arrived. The beef was average and I was shocked to have a chicken breast served as their chicken option rather than carved meat. £22 for two chicken breasts as meat was certainly not up to standard.Up until this point the visit had yes been disappointing, however when we were being served the staff were friendly and helpful. As we were leaving the waitress behind the bar remarked to her colleague “thanks for the tip” at that point one of the party confirmed the experience wasn’t good enough to warrant leaving a tip. Having worked in hospitality and eaten out around the country I have never experienced such shocking or small minded attitude.Overall such a poor experience, couldn’t recommend there based off this visit.

Needed to ask a staff member to come to our table to take our order after sitting at the table for half an hour. Once a staff member took our order, the food we wanted wasn’t available.Food was not up to standard at all.Three members of our group had the roast chicken and all three didn’t eat it as it was dry.Once we had payed the bill and leaving. Staff made a remark “thanks for the tip”.Certainly not a place to visit again.

£25.80 for a glass of wine, tuna sandwich and hot chocolate I think that's extortionate will not return and urge others to avoid

Food lovely, very pleasant barmaid jack of all trades she was on her own and it was very busy so rushed off her feet.

Lovely staff, but the food was awful. Overcooked fish and fry chicken, chips were more like wedges and so dark and soggy, not crispy. Tasted like they were a day old. One of our starters was also forgotten but we got refunded. The girl behind the bar works extremely hard and was friendly.

2 friendly but overstretched staff doing the best they could. Orders had to be placed at the bar, which was odd as the place was set out restaurant style. Food was fine, and prompt, but despite all the stone arches the place lacked the rhe homeliness you'd expect of country pub. I'd have had another beer if they hadn't run out on all the hand pumps.
