Good value for breakfast + sit by canal. If walking the tow path, good lunch or coffee stop.

Fine rustic sort of place to come for reasonably priced food and drink. They don't share the wifi - ok, but this really is the twilight zone, so it might nice to share with customers who need it. Coffee seems to be drip + milk rather than espresso.

First time here and I can't praise staff enough as I'm newly diagnosed diabetic and hungry ,staff made a lunch up for me . Thank-you black shed crew. Also it's dog friendly which is rare and good ,and picked up some leaflets for kids activities even for a nice bike ride along canal side. 10/10

Had their Sunday carvery and it was excellent. Good portion of tender roast beef and help yourself vegetables. We'll be going back in two weeks for another. Thoroughly recommended.

With regards to the previous review from Anita W - I feel as I have to say something in defence of the blackshed and the member of staff. I was actually a customer in the cafe at the same time and In my opinion the lady behind the counter knew exactly what she was talking about, she had enquired if the customer was gluten free or celiac and was attempting to explain that yes she was able to provide a gluten free meal but because of the procedures put in place to protect the customer it would take a little longer. At no time did I feel the member of staff was rude or belittling in fact I would say it was the other way round!! This was my first visit to The blackshed and it won't be my last, i visit the area quite regularly, I experienced friendly service and an excellent breakfast with a hot drink at a fair price. The place was a little gem, with fantastic proper food, knowledgeable and conscientious staff and a super view. Keep up the good work ?

My friend is gluten free and they advertise gluten free breakfast. She ordered and the cook was behind the counter. Her comments were it’s going to take half hour longer for yours I have to go and the back and strip off and everything. Will have to use a separate fryer two of us will have to cook the meal and so forth. My friend was made to feel very uncomfortable and was totally humiliated. Don’t go there there if you have an allergy she was rude and horrid. My friend had to chose something else as she felt so belittled for goodness sake why advertise you can cater for a customer with allergies if you then kick off when such a guest orders. Would never go there or recommend to anyone disgraceful way to treat guests. I would suggest you remove gluten free dishes from your menu as the cook obviously runs the place and cannot cater for guests with allergies. The chef didn’t know the difference between an glutenallergy and.a dairy intolerance which is scary

Great find, excellent service. Although after breakfast hours after a quick check with the kitchen bacon sandwich’s ordered. Arrived quickly and excellent quality customer service second to none. Great spot overlooking the river. Happy bikers

Excellent cafe on the bank of the Gloucester & Sharpness canal adjacent to Patch swing bridge. Fantastic place to enjoy a full English breakfast, hot meals, sandwiches, pasties, cakes, ice cream, hot & cold drinks, plus alcoholic beverages whilst watching the boats go by and the swing bridge in operation when larger craft pass by. The food is great, plus pizza and fish & chip evenings offer good food at reasonable prices, especially taking into account the lovely scenic location. Customer restroom facilities and decent sized car park, plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, various boat trips can be booked and taken from here, friendly & helpful staff and carvery meals too! Occasional live music events are also good with a great atmosphere. Brilliant and highly recommended.Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options from the variety of day & evening menus.Kid-friendliness: Children friendly, spacious seating areas, and some will enjoy being by the canal seeing the boats and wildlife around the cafe area.Parking: Decent sized free customer car park alongside the cafe.Wheelchair accessibility: Good wheelchair access to all areas, which are wide and spacious, with no obstacles that saw when we visited.

Popped in here after we finished a very long dog walk of 15km. We parked in the free car park along the road to start, and walked along canal path to Saul junction about 1hr15. After lunch walked back. We stopped here for an ice cream. There was a live band when we arrived, it was very busy outside under the coveted areas, so sat inside. Person came over with a dog treat for our dog, which was very nice. Seemed a lovely place, I imagine it gets very busy at weekends, and during the week.

Popped in for breakfast on our way to the wetlands because we had heard that it was meant to do good breakfast. It does. A good portion size at a decent price, in a lovely location. Outstanding

Two part review 1) Staying in the campsite opposite we were recommended to visit the black shed for breakfast. We were not disappointed. The ‘black shed filler’ for £10 was a beast of a breakfast. The food was hot and fresh and the staff lovely and polite. 2) Whilst we were there we noticed a sign about boat trips up and down the canal. £5 each for roughly 30 mins. The two ladies in charge were an excellent double act, allowing children to have a go at steering the boat whilst giving an in depth and pertinent history of both the vessel and the canal. A very lovely morning out and thoroughly enjoyable breakfast.
