Very pretty pub in beautiful riverside location. We nipped in on a walk from Tewkesbury and ended up staying for food and chat - recommend the whitebait :)Lovely friendly couple running it, would wholeheartedly recommend.

We thought it was closed when we arrived but it was just very quiet. The lovely landlady allowed our dog in and cooked a delicious lunch freshly just for us. Mysteriously the cellar was closed so only bottled drinks but my Tribute was just fine. Not sure why it wasn’t busy on a Saturday lunchtime…

Beautiful food and great service. The salmon was cooked to perfection and my husband who had the butterfly chicken with chorizo raced about the corn on the cob side (henjoyedthe chicken too).

Lunches available Tues-Sun 12noon to 2.30pm at this lovely old pub with a warm welcome every time. We visited twice during our holiday. Firstly by chance on Sunday as we walked the footpath alongside the River Severn. The very tasty beef roast served with yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, and a generous selection of vegetables with the tastiest thick gravy, and bottles of cider too - easier to keep with longer shelf life in these times of austerity ? Our second lunch visit was planned as we returned from the Haw Bridge walking along the picturesque footpath. We very much enjoyed thickly sliced ham, eggs and chips with salad, and tuna mayonnaise baguette with chips and salad - and more cider ?

This place is certainly well hidden, down a no-through road from Apperley, and no obvious signs to get you there. At the end of the track you get to a caravan park and you can also make out the river Severn. We went on a sunny Saturday lunchtime and everyone was sat outside in the garden. There were 4 tables of people and so the landlady was rushed off her feet so service took a while. No draught beer so it was a selection of bottles to choose from and the baguettes were perhaps a little pricey but obviously fresh and tasty too. Entertainment, apart from the landlady, came in the form of the many animals (ducks, chickens, doves, etc.) in the farmyard plus the shetland pony with the sharp teeth (or at least that's what it said on the sign). Certainly a quiet spot and enjoyable to sit in the sunny garden but a bit of a trek just for bottled beer.

We were on a long walk from Tewkesbury. Lovely pub but beware it's not always open and only had a choice of bottled beer. Landlady very nice ??

Service is brilliant, not in your face constantly but aware when needed. The food was outstanding. Hubby had steak and fries with an amazing peppercorn sauce. I had the butterflied chicken with chorizo. Both meals were succulent and the veg ordered to accompany our food was excellent

We both had ham egg and chips which was excellent. The pub looks a bit run down and was serving only bottled products on the lunchtime we visited, but they were all well chilled. Service was friendly.

We have visited this pub several times pre pandemic and found it excellent. However our visit tonight was not so good. Nobody was at the bar so we had to wait for 10 minutes before anyone turned up to serve us. All the draught beers and ciders were unavailable so we had to have bottled beer. I asked for Bulmers but was served Magners. We sat in the garden which seemed to be inhabited by screaming kids and their screaming parents. It was not a pleasant experience. I appreciate that thengs can go wrong but we were given no explanation why there were no draught beers.

They're trying, but Covid seems to have had a lasting effect. No draught beer or soft drinks.Staff were helpful, but its not the experience we thought it would be; Other reviews on here are pre-Covid.Limited opening hours, so check before you go. Understandably, as a traditional pub, maintaining a detailed online presence is not their number one priority :)

Today i had the privilege of meeting the absolute legend of a man - Steve. The pub itself has a gorgeous atmosphere, beautiful river scenery and incredible hospitality. Steve introduced us to Dodger, the best pub pony we've seen, and throughout our visit there, we've never felt more welcome! If you ever need a place to relax, have a lovely drink and the highest quality of food, this place is the place for you. Cant praise Steve enough for the astonishing service hes provided, definitely returning any time i need some pub time!

Hopefully this place will improve over time. To be fair it was relatively inexpensive. Food was OK. Wouldn't rush back..

Popped in for a quick drink and was shocked to hear a small wine had cost £7.30 especially as was clearly aldi bought produce . Overheard conversation to another couple that food offering was either a beef roast dinner or maybe they could get a baguette out of freezer . Shame the place could be so much more .
