On a cold winter afternoon, we arrived just before they were due to switch to their dinner menu. We only wanted a something to warm us up and they were happy to provide this. Very welcoming. Fantastic tasty soup with homemade sourdough bread.

Took a trip to this cafe when the one we were going to go to had a reduced menu on a Tuesday. If it had not been for Tripadvisor we would not have found it. Hidden away in the village by the church. The outside of the cafe was hidden by a builders van so I was not sure I had reached the destination I was heading for. I popped my head inside the door and immediately knew this was the place we wanted. The atmosphere and hubbub was just right and luckily there was space in the upstairs room for the 4 of us. Relevant for our group there were bannisters on either side of the stairs - necessary when we had a 91 and 89 year old with us. The food was beautifully presented and tasted so good. We chose the steak sub [I had to explain to the 91 year old what a sub was]. the curried parsip soup [so smooth] the lamb pie [comes with a small jug of gravy on the side] and the tagliatelle, we were all pleased with our choices. The chips were unlike any chip I had had before - they had a groove taken out of them which added to the crispiness and they were delicious. The two waitressess were attentive and knowledgable and delivered food up the stairs very efficiently. Flat white was so smooth - no hint of bitterness, sadly a 60 mile round trip is too far for this to become my 'go to' for a coffee. The standard of cooking out shone what one would expect to find in a village cafe and explained why it was so busy. Such a welcoming place from toddler to old age, for 4 legged to muddy booted.

Great food. Really. Wonderful falafel burger, with leaf salad and sweet potato fries and hubby had an excellent salmon sandwich. Beautifully presented. Fresh, tasty. Decaf latte coffee lovely flavour. Wonderful caramel pastry cruffin - light, yummy. Everything Perfect. Can't say more. Just perfect.

This place is a real find! We have been here a couple of times, but our New Year's dinner has proven this is more than just a "cafe". The food we had was creative, high-end, and so well presented that you have to remind yourself that you are not in a west-end London Michelin restaurant. We're always fearful that you have a good experience, then a return visit ends up being a little disappointing. But Blockley Cafe has achieved the opposite. Our return visit just gets better and better. They are also dog friendly - which is great for us. Craig (chef and owner) is a real talent, his team made sure we saw the New Year in with a bang. The multi-course tasting menu took 5 hours to work through, but it never felt like it. The atmosphere was vibrant, but comfortable, and we enjoyed every minute. The service was efficient and friendly, but not stuffy. Blockley Cafe seem to have got everything right, and I can honestly say the New Years eve dinner was one of the best culinary experiences we have had in a long time. We cannot wait to be back again soon. Bravo Blockley Cafe!

Just left - visited Saturday 18th November. …..Absolutely awful; service awful; food awful. My partner took me here to start our date day together as we have been busy recently. Told to take a seat and that someone would clear the table and bring menu. Sat for 15-20mins and two waiters (one young girl and one young guy) just stood around the till area looking miserable. We asked for menus and the girl came over and tried to take our order, but we hadn’t even got the menus to be able to order and had not even ordered drinks. She gave us the menus and said she would give us a minute. She went back and just stood by the till looking miserable. In the end we went back up to order because we waited a further 15 minutes upon receiving menus. We also moved upstairs in the end as people waiting for takeaway coffees were just crowding around the table and those waiting for a table just kept staring at us waiting for us to go. Really overwhelming and intimidating. We moved upstairs and food came after a while . Pancakes were tiny and our poached eggs were uncooked but by then we just wanted to leave . The couple next to us had to reorder their breakfast as they had been waiting for ages and the girl who took the order had not put it through correctly the first time. I believe they got free coffees as an apology. In all, a poor experience and one that I do not want to relive. It seems that the staff need more training and need to use their initiative a little better to improve service in the future . They were just stood waiting to be directed and was shocking , really. Awful.

I am reluctant to leave a review because I don't want too many people knowing about this place. Whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner - both the food and the service is always fantastic. One of the hidden gems of the Cotswolds.

This restaurant was recommended to us which we were very grateful for. We never would have expected such a little gem to be tucked away like it is The food was worthy of a top class restaurant at very reasonable prices with a lovely friendly waiter and great location Can’t wait to go back

What a lovely place this is. We stayed in Blockley for a week and had breakfast here every day. We had something different each day and would be hard pressed to come up with a favourite. Staff wonderful, surroundings beautiful what more could you ask for?

Lovely experience at Blockley Cafe. The menu was perfect for lunch, not too extensive and the food was so beautifully presented. Taste was perfect. Plus the incredibly polite, helpful and friendly staff. Can’t believe it’s down the road and this was my first time! I have to say that it runs rings around my usual haunts..

So so highly recommend this restaurant! We had breakfast and dinner here during our 3 day stay in Bloclkey, and would have been there for lunch one of the days if we could have swung it! The setting is deceptively simple, but the food is sophisticated without being fussy--just delicious. The flat rate £45 dinner has 5 courses (three of which you need to make a choice from a list of three options). The menu focuses on local seasonal foods and changes every four weeks. I don't know if this is standard, but the night we dined there, their three options for both starter and main were poultry, fish and vegetarian options (interestingly, and appreciated, that there wasn't a meat option). We actually got to sample everything (because we were 6 close friends), and I have to hand it to them, EVERYTHING was incredible!

Excellent food and service as always. A real food experience not just a meal.
