The Great Western Arms
Station Rd, Blockley, Moreton-in-MarshWe had a great evening at the Great Western in Blockley when we visited with a group of 17 for my wife’s birthday. It’s a charming, fairly small village pub, so we really appreciated how accommodating and attentive the team were with such a big group.
They set up a long table for us which worked perfectly for the celebration. Despite the group size, the food all came out fresh and at the same time — very impressive, especially as it was the new chef’s first week.
The food was delicious, prices were very reasonable, and there was a good selection of beers.
Overall a really enjoyable evening — definitely recommend if you’re in Blockley.

The food was superb and the beer was the best pint of Butty bach I’ve had.

Blockley Village Shop
Bell Ln, Blockley, Moreton-in-MarshStaff always friendly in cafe particularly but also shop. Prices same as other local cafes, it is an expensive area. I've lived here all my life and we are lucky to have such a good facility when many other cotswold villages have none. Father Brown filmed locally but church next door to shop is C of E not Catholic!

Moreton Wine Merchants & Wine Bar
2 High St, Moreton-in-MarshPopped in on a Sunday as it opened for a glass of wine before a family lunch. The owner was absolutely lovely, offering to put a bunch of flowers into water for us to keep them fresh before we went to lunch.
We had a great chat about the wines by the glass on offer at the back, and she even gave us some of a wine we hadn't ordered to taste, which was lovely. They had a great selection and she was clearly so knowledgeable, and incredibly welcoming.
Sorry to not have gotten the owners name, she asked ours and was so kind and generous, we will definitely be back here to try more wines and buy some bottles on our next visit to the area.

The Fox Inn
Broadwell, Moreton-in-MarshI came in for a late dinner on the bank holiday Saturday and was blown away by the service and food in this beautiful little pub.
We had the asparagus and the haddock croquettes for starters which were fresh and tasty with great attention to detail.
And the sole and pork chop for mains. Every plate tasted as good as it looked.
We got great help with picking out the wines and they pour a decent Guinness too!
We will be back!

High St, Moreton-in-MarshGreat location, easy to get to buses and rail station. We enjoyed both our breakfast and dinner there. Staff were friendly and very helpful - the radiators were not working in our room when we checked in and after troubleshooting the issue, including bleeding the water lines, the kind gentleman from reception moved us to a lovely room which even had a beautiful enclosed patio.

Daylesford, Moreton-in-MarshExtremely appreciative of the exemplary service staff received today. My wife’s 50th plans went a bit awry and we ended up at Legbar as a last minute booking. The head of staff had a fantastic professional “can do” attitude and even assisted with the cake lighting and rallying the troops to make the evening special. The gentleman who served us was diligent and everything you’d expect of delivering a great service. The slow roasted pork belly was the superb “Daylesford standard”. Thank you very much to the whole team for making it a memorable night.

Update: as of May 22 this has been taken over by blue diamond garden centres so no longer offers unique g beautiful merchandise, the restaurant has gone downhill and the food is cheap quality, staff seem uninterested in their customers satisfaction. Such a shame that a great garden centre has become a corporate nightmare.I shalln't go again.

Definitely helping me to start my day off as happily as I could hope to. May I personally recommend the Banana & Spinach smoothie.... and the breakfast wrap!

The Swan Inn
High St, Moreton-in-MarshWe stayed here at very short notice after our holiday cottage turned out to be uninhabitable. We got an incredibly warm welcome and a delicious meal despite the fact that the kitchen had closed. We couldn't have been looked after better.
There is a lovely walk to Batsford Arboretum right from the Inn.

The restaurant was spotless, and the team kept checking on us to make sure everything was perfect, which really showed their high standards from start to finish.
Even though we didn’t manage to finish the main meal for two, it was absolutely incredible — the portion sizes are very generous and everything was delicious.
