Came in for an evening meal as we fancied some hearty food with a warm fire but they were only serving pizza. Three fireplaces but no fire and no atmosphere. Had a drink and moved on to a pub that more suited what we were after.

We stayed three nights at the Bell Inn as part of our 50th year anniversary trip. We could not recommend the Bell Inn more highly. John and his staff made us feel incredibly welcomed. Our room was comfy, the food was terrific (do not believe those who denigrate British food), and the staff was friendly and attentive. We loved the atmosphere in the pub. JR Tolkien would be proud to see how well the place has held up.

Full of dogs, smells of dog as a result. Couldn’t even open the front door because a dog was blocking the entrance. Sandwich a rip off, frozen fish fingers in bread with no seasoning, side salad out of a packet and some doritos disguised as ‘tortilla chips’. Come on guys, at least have a go. Ale in good shape.

Very nice pub, real ale on sale. Compact front area that was well presented. Food served here. Staff were friendly. Popped in for a beer which was good. Good visit.

Great bear, friendly staff, and good service. When we visited, the restaurant was closed, but the alternative pizza menu was brilliant. The only sad bit was the lack of a Lord of the Rings information, it's the inspiration for the prancing pony in Bree, and maybe a themed pizza or beer and some info would really add to the experience... but that shouldn't detract from the fact that it's a lovely place, with good friendly service.Food & drinks: Good food and beers..

Best pub in town without a doubt!Friendly staff, very cozy, nice courtyard and well themed. The map of middle-earth on the wall was a really nice touch. The food was good and arrived swiftly, overall great service. Plus, the pub dog was adorable and friendly too.If you’re ever in the area and considering a pub to visit, The Bell Inn is the only right choice.

Really lovely pub with a great history. Tolkien visited here a lot and they have a plaque outside and some nice pictures inside. The team were so welcoming and friendly. Not the biggest menu but great for a lunch stop with a story! Thanks everyone!

? A Magical Journey to "The Bell"!Oh, my friends, let me share a tale of pure enchantment – my visit to "The Bell" was nothing short of a dream come true! ✨? As a die-hard fan of The Lord of the Rings, stepping foot into the very place where J.R.R. Tolkien found inspiration was like entering a realm of fantasy.Picture this: the inn stands before you, cute and utterly unique, radiating a charm that's impossible to resist. ? The fact that I was treading on the same grounds that once welcomed the genius behind Middle-earth left me awe-struck and beyond thrilled.Every nook and cranny held whispers of the magic that once ignited Tolkien's imagination, and I couldn't help but feel a part of something extraordinary. The atmosphere was like a warm embrace, wrapping me in a cocoon of delight. My friends, consider this your call to adventure – I wholeheartedly recommend visiting "The Bell" and indulging in the wonder that awaits. Let yourself be swept away by the charm, the history, and the sheer joy of being in a place that feels like a page from a beloved tale. Here's to making memories as magical as this one – it's a journey you won't want to miss!Food & drinks: We had a couple beers because they didn’t have vegan options which it’s ok because we were mainly going for the beer ?

We stopped here whilst travelling around the Cotswolds looking at sights that inspired Tolkien whilst writing The Lord of the Rings. This is a lovely pub with some great bar staff. We had a few drinks which were reasonably price, sadly we didn’t get lunch as it was very busy and had an hour wait. So we looked at some of the old photos around the premises. We took some pics and chatted to some regulars. A great pub with the added bonus of being the inspiration for the Prancing Pony in Lord of the Rings

The Manager is Rude he could not run a bath. He can’t be bothered to do anything the pub has so much potential and given the prices there should be a lot more respect. been busy and all you see him doing is strolling round. get some manners

The Bell is in Moreton-in-Marsh's High Street, a convenient location for a wander around the small town. It is basically a pub with rooms which overlook the courtyard, ours accessed by an outside staircase. Our room was spacious, with an en suite. The shower was excellent, with plenty of hot water, the towels big and fluffy. There were soap and shampoo dispensers. The bed was fairly comfortable. Our room was clearly over the kitchen, as at 8.00am a loud roar set up, presumably from the extractor fan, and continued until about 10-11pm, so lie-ins and early nights would be tricky. There was tea and coffee plus biscuits- a nice addition, however I'd have appreciated a small fridge for the medication I must take first thing every morning, rather than having to trek down to the kitchen to request it from their fridge. The proprietors were obliging and affable. Breakfast was served in the bar. We'd have liked to have been able to serve ourselves coffee and it would have been nice to have fresh fruit alongside the cereal, yoghurt and dried fruit. The hot food was modest in quantity but well cooked and the toast was on the stingy side- a request for extra did not get results. We had one evening meal [fish and chips] which was very good, from a basic pub menu. The bar tended to be a bit draughty in the evenings. As well as the courtyard there is a large garden to the rear, although it seems little used. All in all there is much to like about The Bell Inn but with a few basic additions [fridges, fruit at breakfast] it would be really great.
