The service and welcome were lovely. Open fire is really warm and sets a nice ambience. Menu was reasonable in length and price and lots of hearty meals/range of flavours. I had the pie which was full of filling (including lots of meat) and homemade chips which were delicious. My friend had the cauliflower which although not the obvious choice was large and full of flavour. Thanks for a nice lunch.

Delicious Sunday roast in a friendly pub in the centre of Moreton in Marsh. Really accommodating for 2 young families, really lovely food that came out very quickly at a reasonable price for how tasty everything was. Definitely recommend. Emailed to reserve in advance which I would recommend as it was full.

Very good evening main dish with veg and salad in an informal setting. Quality food at a reasonable price. Seems popular. Dog friendly. Would recommend.

Arrived in area yesterday and booked a table, after reading reviews, for lunch today and were not disappointed. Attentive and welcoming staff with impressive roast dinners and puds to match. I particularly was impressed with the locally made ice cream! We were even helped with a doggy bag ! Cannot fault can only recommend and will visit again when in the area.

The Food was Very Good indeed and The Staff are a Delight Thankyou. The Bear was Humming on Both Nights of our Stay and there was as Warm Fire as it was very Cold Outside.

Booked eight adults and four dogs for Sunday lunch. First visit for us all and I was very impressed. Choice of quality wines by the glass and real beers on draught. We all ordered roasts that arrived very quickly, all together and very hot, thanks in part to plenty of proficient staff available. Before this, a member of their team had asked and bought to the table all of the sauces etc we would need…such a simple idea but it saves your meal going cold whilst waiting. My Beef was delicious with wonderful roast potatoes and plenty of vegetables. Spent the rest of the afternoon working our way through the drinks menu ?. Excellent Sunday afternoon

Proper pub, great food & friendly staff. Few minutes walk from the station so no one needs to drive if you want a few of the well kept beers. The specials menu is always good. Thank goodness pubs like this still exist.

Another excellent lunch washed down with fine ales, topped off with a Jamesons sitting around the fire.

Great local pub, very dog friendly. Sadly didn't get chance to try the food but the menu looked really good. Lovely pub though and good beers.

Excellent pub in an excellent location. Friendly staff and great food. Perfect place to relax and have a drink. We finished every evening we were in Moreton in marsh here.

We had a great meal celebrating a birthday. Although we had been told that there was staff shortage due to illness, this wasn't apparent though and we had excellent attentive service. The usual menu was slightly adjusted but this did not detract from our choices or enjoyment. The ale selection was sufficient and wines were varied. The pie was king-size and clearly home-made. Vegetables / chunky wedges were "for the table" rather than individual. Overall, if we're in the area, we would return.

Been here a few times now and it’s honestly some of the best home cooked food around. We all had chicken and leek pie. Tasty, flakey pie top, lots of filling and a bowl full of fresh veg to accompany. The best home made chips in a long time. It’s such an added bonus to go somewhere, have a nice dish and proper chips. On first appearance and walking in you could say the service isn’t immediately warm and the place lacks a little bit of atmosphere, but it kind of works creating its own little charm and the food is definitely worth overcoming any initial feelings.

We visited on a Friday night as part of a short break and thankfully we'd booked in advance as the pub was full which made for a great atmosphere. I'm a Coeliac and the waitress couldn't have be more helpful - I'd already spotted 2 gluten free beers which is unusual and when asked what food was suitable on the menu, the waitress said the menu was new and she'd check with the chef. She returned to say most dishes were either gluten free or could be adapted - it was great to have a choice rather than be limited to what was suitable. Both myself and my wife had a delicious meal with generous portion sizes. What made the evening more memorable was the exceptional service and great atmosphere, we highly recommend and will return if we are in the area.

Visited on Saturday great pint of Guinness at lunchtime. After visiting friends at Stow-on-the-Wold we returned for a few more Saturday evening - friendly staff and the locals made myself and my wife very welcome .. And the dog enjoyed it too .. Highly
