Unfortunately we spent the night there, which was not a pleasant experience due to the cold. The heating was off (I thought that it was probably on a timer and would come on in the morning but it didn't). The duvets don't provide enough cover and the cold metal bed frame woke me every time my feet made contact. We were warned that as there were no carpets we might hear footsteps above. From 6 am there was a constant noise from the owners apartment above. We were the only customers so if there is an issue with that particular room why weren't we offered an alternative? The milks in the room were all out of date - my wife thought it tasted funny and then I saw the best before was August last year! The staff were wearing shorts and sliders which is more the strange by virtue of the fact that it is winter and they do not have any heating on. The room was mostly clean (a little bit of black mould on the bath and sink sealant). Towels wrapped in ribbon were placed on the bed (why?). Towels are required in a bathroom and not a bedroom although I should have used them to keep warm as there was no supplementary blankets in the room. One would expect to see tissues in a room but not here.Breakfast was OK. The sausages were very hard and difficult to cut even with a serrated knife. The tea pot was rather small for 2 and there was no offer of a refill. Otherwise, the rest of the breakfast was good. This could be a great place with more attention to detail and some heating in the room. I doubt if I would risk a return to find out.

Stayed here while away for work. As a single female travelling alone, I felt very safe and welcomed. Had an issue with my room, and they did everything they could to sort the issue, which I was very grateful for.Ate here, and the food was good quality pub grub, and the atmosphere in the pub/dinning area was lovely. All staff are very welcoming and helpful.

Fantastic country pub. Lovely atmosphere and cosy surroundings. Unfortunately let down by the food. Now I've been here on quite a few occasions and food has always been good. The Sunday Roast this weekend didn't match usual high standards. The Beef was as tough as old boots and must of been cut with an axe as slices came out thicker than rump steaks. Also might be worth investing in new cutlery as the knives were blunt. Though I imagine a samurai sword wound of struggled with the Beef. Hope changes are made as this place is usually a delight.

Booked for Sunday lunch in advance. The vegetables were very nice, however the meat was not nice, very tough and fatty, which is a shame. The position of the table wasn’t ideal (other tables were available) as it was by the door, which caused a draught, when other customers & deliveries were made. Lacking in ambience. The staff were polite however lacking in training. Won’t bother returning, very disappointed especially because the meal was for a special guest occasion.

Just a lovely country pub serving very decent food. Lovely staff and a pleasant atmosphere. I had the fish and chips which were beautifully cooked.

Camping nearby, booked a table for 2 nights.Good choice of food. Well cooked hot food, decent portions, hot plates.Whitebait to share as a starter both nights. Steak and fish and chips first night, lamb shank both of us second night. Lovely Merlot.First night locals were in, nice to see. Second night a large group of seniors celebrating a birthday. It was probably a good job we arrived before they did as we may have had to have waited a while for our meals. First night waitress charming, second night different waitress could have been slightly happier. Overall would visit again.

Went in a party of 6 for Sunday lunch, 4 adults 2 children. The children had the fish and chips, which were OK. However, everyone else had roast dinners and we were all very disappointed in food quality. We had heard good things about the restaurant and were looking forward to this, we won't be going back.

Had a really lovely lunch here last sunday. The roast was very good and well cooked (and im extremely fussy). Big portions, lots of very fresh and not soggy greens, lashings of gravy and good quality meat. The desserts were delicious!!!As an F&B owner myself i know how hard it is to find staff at the moment but the whole team were great. We particularly loved the new owner who we had the pleasure of meeting when he showed us the rooms (they looked lovely too, very clean and nice attention to detail). Thanks all and we will be back !Vegetarian options: My uncle loved his roast mushroom dish!Kid-friendliness: No one seemed to mind my very lpud toddler!

We had a birthday meal there, the food was ok. The starters and side were great but the steak which was the main part of the meal wasn't cooked very well and not seasoned. The quality of the meal didn't justify the price.

Great little pub restaurant and over night stay. Very clean with lovely crisp bed linen and white towels. Great meal and wine in the restaurant Only downside was quite a bit of noise early evening upstairs. But it's an old property with wooden floors
