Wonderful, warm atmosphere made cosy by the log fire and Christmas tree. The best chicken, ham and leek pie I've ever had and some of the best chips ever! Ruby is a lovely, friendly, attentive hostess and made us feel very welcome. Also awesome mulled wine!

Unbelievable food!! We came here for a work Christmas meal and we’re all vegan. They created a special menu for us and were super lovely to communicate with in terms of booking etc. The food was exceptional - every little detail was thought about and all of us had a great time. Genuinely incredible mushroom wellington, best I’ve ever had. Every part of the meal was quality, you could taste the attention to detail! Beautiful. Please pass our thanks on to your chef!

We had a wonderful Christmas dinner at The Retreat! Probably one of the best we’ve had - great portion sizes, amazing sides and the meat was top notch ? The staff were really accommodating with our baby and the atmosphere was fab (it was packed!) - great Christmas vibes with crackers on the table! We’re looking forward to booking in for our next roast already - would definitely recommend if you’re looking for somewhere in Stroud that does great food and has great service. Well done guys!

Friendly pub, old fashioned pub . Clean and well presented in a traditional style. No food available on a Friday evening although platters of cheese and passata on toasted bread were put out on the bar as a freebie. Some herbs and chilli worked really well in the mix. Just great with a couple of pints of Guinness. I'll be making a return visit to this pub, hopefully when there is food being served, probably lunch time.

One of the best roasts I've eaten in a while, and reasonably priced too!Vegetarian options: Very tasty celeriac shnitzel

Very friendly staff, good beer choices, dog friendly, small courtyard garden, some food but quite limited. Was put off a little buy the local drunks pawing at my wife but they were fairly harmless and not the fault of the pub which is nice.

My friend and I came here for a casual afternoon drink on a weekend. They’ve got a small walled garden that’s perfect for sunny days. There’s a good selection of beers and ciders at reasonable prices.

Cracking pub, friendly service, cool industrial style interior with a little hidden outdoor seating spot. Worth a visit.
