We had Sunday roast here. Loved both the vegetarian and meat liver versions. Great locals’ atmosphere.

We come here so much it’s embarrassing ?It’s the best of everything, a proper old inn, locals, friendly staff and awesome seasonal menu from an excellent restaurant. Great beers, basic bogs and a roaring fire! I would like to sometimes see more fish/vegetarian food on the menu. But it still gets 5*

Delicious food in lovely old pub.

Fantastic historic pub & restaurant with an imaginative menu and great service. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is the loos!

Superb food, drinks, staff, and ambiance - love the beautiful and simple furniture, and the remnants of days gone by around the pub.

Very nice traditional cotswold pub with some great history

Prices in this pub are frankly scandalous. You come out feeling mugged and ripped off. Food is decent enough, limited options however and hardly any options for vegetarians. They cram people into the dining area so it's not even a nice experience. The outside toilets are absolutely disgusting (smelly, drafty, old, not particularly clean etc). Give this place a miss, lots of other lovely country pubs around that offer as good if not better food and experience but for a much more reasonable price.

Had a lovely lunch here today with friends. The staff were friendly and welcoming and accommodated us with our dogs even though we hadn't booked. Interesting menu, although could do with some more vegetarian options- the food was absolutely delicious. James who served us was so nice, checked to make sure we had everything we needed, and kept the dogs happy with treats despite the pub being busy.Highly recommend a visit ?Vegetarian options: Not many options for veggies, although there were 2 starters so we combined those as a main.Parking: There is no car park, but it's free to park on the road. We went mid week so it was fine but can imagine it gets very busy on weekends and in the summer months.

My first time there. Went on a Monday lunch time so only a limited menu but delicious simple food. Clearly the food is their strong point together with a great selection of beers - I had the local Uley. What isn't great is the gents loo. External, very basic and down steps. The club's interior is small and looks very tired and a lick of paint is badly needed. But others might say that's part of its individual chic charm. In summary, the food and its price are gastro but the decor and loo are not. It's famous for the literary and social connections but as a destination pub there are much better alternatives in the Cotswolds area imo.
