Opened in 2005, Cafe 53 began its life as a small 20 seat cafe, tucked behind Domestic Science. As its popularity grew the business expanded. You can now either enter direct from the shop or alternatively via the doorway entrance on Long Street. The dining area is light and airy and overlooks a lovely Mediterranean style water garden, with additional seating. It was busy even midweek and thus with no tables currently free when we popped in from the shop next door "Domestic Science"we had booked a table for 1 p.m. Our seats at our reserved table were right next to the window affording us a lovely view of the garden. It was a bit of a cold, Autumnal day so sitting inside was preferable although some folks were braver than us and had taken the outside option. We enjoyed a beautiful lunch opting for the Ultimate 53 burger and a Saganaki Greek Salad followed of course by cakes and washed down with great hot coffee. This cafe is slightly more expensive than it’s sister branch in Nailsworth but that’s Tetbury pricing for you!

Really nice coffee shop. Great options for breakfast. Staff are all very helpful and friendly.

As someone with food intolerances I greatly appreciated the matcha, beetroot and turmeric latte options with dairy-free milk. Unfortunately, I ordered one with coconut milk and received one with COWS milk, which I didn't realise until I had already taken a couple of sips. It's extremely lucky I don't have a cow's allergy otherwise it could have been a medical emergency. Mistakes happen and it was replaced, but I wasn't offered a refund or a complementary drink to make up for it, which I feel was the least that should have been offered!

Nice tea pot, poor tasting tea. And bag. Partner had nice coffee. Lemon cake was okay, tad dry and over sweet. Other had carrot cake which was pleasant. Staff pleasant. No vegan or veggie options on menu, but they did off goats cheese !

The winter fruit Buddha bowl is just delicious! So nice to see something a bit more unusual on the menu for breakfast, and I’m so glad I had it. Highly recommend!

Nice ambience and the food, such as it was, tasted great, but not worth the £35 price tag for what was effectively two glorified sandwiches, one small coffee and a canned soft drink (punchily priced at £3.60!) The staff were pleasant, but seemed overstretched even when the cafe wasn't particularly busy. They offered to remove the automatically added service charge, but agreeing to its removal would have felt unnecessarily mean, so we paid it. A nice enough place if you've got deep pockets, but I'm afraid we won't be returning.

Nice local cafe for a lunch. Friendly and attentive staff. As menu was somewhat limited, it would be great to have the breakfast options available at lunchtime too.

On a cold day, what better than a sandwich and some warming soup... sublime.

Found this cafe on Tripadvisor. Very quirky and friendly environment. Very busy on the day we visited. Dog friendly. Lovely Saganaki and Greek salad - very impressed. Felt the quality of the burger meat in the burger was extremely poor (cheap) and didn’t reflect the other meals and what I would expect given the environment and ambience. I’d struggle to recommend anyone to choose that dish. Overall if you choose the right item it’s a great spot for lunch.

Very friendly cafe, with lovely staff who made us feel welcome. I had a very delicious burger, my friend had a chicken dish which was also very good. Coffee was really hot which is always a bonus to me. Friendly chef who asked if everything good with our food. Would definitely recommend for a nice lunch out.

Visited with a friend for lunch. I had feta cheese filo parcel with Greek salad which was delicious. They had Thai fishcakes, I’m told it was a tasty as it looked. Lovely staff, great cafe. Can’t wait to come back again to try the fishcakes!

Loved it!Stopped for breakfast and lovely staff served me a great bacon and egg roll. It's not cheap, but the place is nicely furnished and could imagine the garden area would be really nice in summer time.Definitely be going back!
