We were looking for a place to meet up with friends for lunch and left it a bit late, all places we tried were fully booked however the Anchor went out of their way to squeeze us in (4 adults and 4 children). The food and service were great, they really made us feel welcome. Will be visiting again when up the Bristol area.

We had a lovely roast dinner at the pub. The food was really well cooked and the landlord was able to say what was dairy / gluten free. You get a good plate of food for a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming and we will definitely visit again soon. There is a nice selection of drinks and all the staff were really welcoming and friendly.Dietary restrictions: The chef was able to advise on what allergens were in the meals and gluten free options were available on the roast dinner.Parking: You can park directly outside the pub or could drop people off and then park in a side street if needed.

We had visited for food a couple of times recently, and thought it would be nice to visit again with family. We went on a Sunday lunch time, and it was very busy, so busy that we were sat like sardines in a tin. The pub was also very noisy, not good for us that have 2 people with hearing aids as they cannot hear very well. We ordered our food, and waited, and waited, after nearly an hour I asked where our lunch was as there were 2 insulin dependent diabetics on our table. The waiter was quite abrupt, no apology and said it wasn't his fault. After lunch my sister in law said there were no roast potatoes on her plate, but felt we had waited long enough so did not complain. A very disappointing time was had by all. Probably ok if you like noisy, cramped surrounding while eating.

One of those rarities a genuine old English pub with separate bar and restaurant.Friendly atmosphere and you can hold a conversation.Small garden and play area in the summer and off road parking.Great pub

I essentially grew up in this pub in my teenage years and 20s and came back here to have a meal with my parents some 20 years later. The decor basically hasn't changed since the mid 90s at least, but the atmosphere in this pub has always been very cosy, welcoming and modest. The food I had (the bacon burger) was really nice, tasty simple pub grub and good value too. Gets 5 stars not just for the nostalgia then.Vegetarian options: A number of vegetarian options available. Not quite so many for vegans though.Parking: Spaces are limited when the pub is busy, but there are plenty of quiet suburban streets nearby you can park up in.
