We are very lucky to have the Devonshire as our local pub, it’s great for a quick pint or a longer lunch/dinner. Six of us had a long leisurely lunch - food is fairly standard pub grub - fish and chips, pie, sausages and mash - but it is well cooked and tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful and service was prompt.

We turned up for our booking at 1pm to discover it was another Devonshire we had booked! The front of house woman dealt with this extremely well and managed to find us a table. We had the set menu which was amazing value and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

WE WENT TO THE DEVONSHIRE FOR MOTHERS DAY. WE WERE A PARTY OF 9. WE WERE MADE AWARE WHEN WE ARRIVED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS IN THE KITCHEN AND SO EXPECTED A BIT OF DISRUPTION AND A BIT OF A WAIT SO THAT WAS OK, BUT WHEN THE FOOD ARRIVED IT WAS A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT. WE HAD 8 ROAST BEEF DINNER AND ON EVERY SINGLE ONE THE BEEF WAS EXTREMLY FATTY AND SINEWY. THE STAFF WAS REALLY GREAT UNDER DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES BUT THEY ASKED US IF WE WANTED CONDIMENTS, WHICH WE DID BUT ALAS THEY NEVER ARRIVED. LOVELY PUB BUT A DISAPPOINTMING VISIT

Guess we were unlucky.Ate there on 26/2 2.30 table for two.Drinks downstairs beforehand were nice, good pint of guiness.Upstairs for lunch. Placed our order with waiter, 5 mins later he returns to inform us they have no lobster nor langoustines - basically that was over half of our mains that had to be re-ordered.The starter: Scallops were tasty. Prawn cocktail lacked flavour, but rubbery. The ribs were nice.Mains: The fillet steak was okay - a bit on the dry side - it was ordered medium rare.Chops were nice.Dessert: Sticky toffee pudding was the best, very tasty.Cheese board came straight from the fridge so had no flavour, we mentioned this to our waiter and it was taken of the bill.As an aside the table behind, complained that there steak was dry. When making the booking we said we were celebrating a big birthday, but not so much as a many happy returns.Overall disappointing especially given the reviews.
Vegan cauliflower and vegan burger were really good. My sister said her pie was the tastiest she thinks she’s ever had. My bro in laws fish and chips was massively enjoyed and huge!! Staff all really lovely and attentive that we felt they deserved an extra £10 tip on top of service charge. Thanks Guys!!

Brilliant lunch at the Devonshire. Love this place for many reasons. Atmosphere, people, services for dogs and the customer service is fantastic.Unfortunately we felt the food was a little bland and dry for our roast yesterday however my dog got his own roast version and he devoured it.We will try again!Thank you.
