A quiet Friday lunchtime so not the best time to judge atmosphere. Good tasty food and pleasant staff. Will definitely be returning.

Four of us had lunch today accompanied by our spaniels. We’d booked, and were in a comfortable alcove, where the dogs weren’t bothering anyone else. We ate prawns, sandwiches and chips, all nicely made and presented. Service was excellent, perfectly paced, and it was kind of the team to serve us drinks as well as food, so that we didn’t have to keep getting up and down. With eight beverages the bill was £70 which we thought represented good value for money.

As frequent travellers from South London to Hastings, we're always on the lookout for hidden gems along the way. Last weekend, our curiosity led us to the Woodman for a Sunday lunch, and what a delightful discovery it turned out to be. My wife opted for the nut roast, and she couldn't stop praising it—it earned the prestigious title of one of the best she's ever had in a pub, coming close to her homemade masterpiece. That's quite an accolade! I went for the roast pork, and the succulence was truly impressive. Even considering the late lunch hour, it remained wonderfully moist. My sister's choice was the roast beef, perfectly cooked with a slight pinkish hue, adding to its tenderness. The meat portions were generous, with ample servings of potatoes and the homemade Yorkshire pudding. However, I'd offer a slight criticism about the quantity of other veggies, which seemed a bit wanting. The good news is, upon mentioning it to the attentive staff, they promptly remedied the situation. It's refreshing to experience such responsive service. In the end, we left with the feeling of having stumbled upon a hidden gem just off the beaten track. The Woodman's Sunday lunch was a pleasant surprise, and it has certainly earned a spot on our list of favourites.

Excellent village pub. Shepherd Neame ales on hand pump,, plenty of community events, big garden. Great place.

We always enjoy visiting this pub, either for drinks or lunch. The service is friendly and the locals are welcoming. Food is only served at lunchtimes, but you can take in a takeaway in the evening - the pizza cart outside on a Friday is a winner. The food is of a high standard and all homemade, I particularly like the pies and roast dinner on a Sunday. Recommend trying out this small village pub for a pleasant change from all the run of the mill chain pubs.

The Woodman is a great village pub that feels like you are taken back to an older time when you enter. The layout is quirky, but charming and it always has a good selection of Shepherd Neame beers on draught. Although I would not change the decor (love the hop vines in the bar area!), I would say that perhaps it needs a little tidying and cleaning up a little.

Visited today very welcoming pub but the food selected Chilli Con Carne was sadly tasteless - ingredients needs to be revisited

The wine selection is poor and limited, especially the white wine and the landlord is not very welcoming.

Great pub. You can buy a freshly baked pizza cooked outside and eat it in the pub - perfect! Every Friday.

Very small food portions. Large meal was just 1 sausage more than a small. Not worth price difference. We had about 10 beans. Very cold inside. They use some cleaning chemicals at the bar which burns your throat and eyes.
