I went to the Alma back in June 2023 solo at the tail end of my London trip because I wanted to have a taste of a true local pub-restaurant. So many local pubs have been bought out by chains and I was looking for a real local experience. This pub was recommended to me as it is locally owned and has many regular local customers. I can honestly say that recommendation was spot-on. I was extremely happy to have had a locally made pie and chips for dinner and a nicely poured Guinness or two. The staff were extremely friendly and I met the two owners that evening and both were very warm and welcoming. The food was excellent (well, better than excellent in my view) and the true local pub atmosphere really shined. You can almost see all of the generations of previous patrons in every corner. I am in London again today (January 30th) but unfortunately there is a rail strike on and no trains are running on Southeastern, cancelling my plans to go back for dinner tonight. I definitely plan on returning to this pub on my next London visit and I fully recommend this establishment for anyone who is looking for an authentic and real local London pub experience. PS. I am from Canada.

Well I honestly can’t understand the few negative reviews I have seen on here. All I can say is that we had a great evening at an event here with exceptionally lovely food, and 5 stars is the minimum we could have given .Great staff and a lovely atmosphere. The pub obviously has some policies but it’s up to customers to respect these. I think it’s a real find and a well run venue.

I’ve just moved to sidcup so my husband and I have been trying out some of the local pubs please don’t bother going there the food is shocking and over priced we ordered a pizza it was disgusting I would not have let my dog eat it so was very disappointed there is an elderly woman with dark hair working behind the bar I assume she is the manager as she was barking orders at the other bar staff who to be fair was very polite and welcoming the manager then proceeded to flirt with my husband she must have been old enough to be his mum stay clear of this place I’d recommend boyles bar in station rd it’s amazing there

My friends and I drinking this pub every Thursday evening. I was disgusted that the two landlords told us to relinquish the premises at 8:25 when we were having such a wonderful social evening. I am disgusted with them I am shocked they think it is good management of a public house, in my 75 years I’ve never come across anything. So disgraceful I am surprised you’ve lasted this long. What a fantastic pub! It’s so rare to find a traditional venue, taking good old fashioned cash with service that is next level! Vanessa is a breath of fresh air and the food is lush! I’m not local but I’ll be paying this place many more visits!

Went for a 80's Soul & Funk night. The DJ was playing some absolute gems. Really friendly pub and a great atmosphere.
