Strange, closed at 9pm on a Tuesday night. But I hear from friends it's a great pub.

Went on a Sunday lunchtime. Amazing food and very good service. Probably the best pub roast I have ever had. Definitely go if you're looking for a better Sunday dinner than average! The kids fish and chips was excellent too.Parking: No charge on Sundays. Lots of bays (on a Sunday at least)

Amazing pub! Been here twice now and loved it both times.Fantastic layout and furnished beautifully so that you feel really comfortable, I could have stayed for hours.I had some Proper job and it tasted just as great as when I was last here 3 years ago. Can tell they look after their beers.Food is great too, I had sausages today and wish I'd asked where there butcher was, delicious. My great grandad used to run this pub in the 1940's & 50's, although I never met him I'm sure he'd be proud of how good this pub is today.

The pub is just lovely. The roast is too die for. Generous portions, tasty and huge Yorkshire. Its not cheap but it's delicious. A proper treat and something to look forward

Lovely local pub with large outdoor area. Youngs pub so good choice of draft beers and lagers. Lovely, friendly staff and nice atmosphere as a result. Good background music on our visit

Ask anyone when walking around Kingston what their favourite pub is, and while their special places may vary, a vast majority will say the "nicest" is The Spring Grove.Off the main road that connects Kingston to Surbiton, round the back of the University is a quaint area that doesn't look like it belongs. Old shop fronts - a bakery, an offy, a church, terraced houses, a sort of rural calmness prevails.First discovered on a crawl a few years back, it won me over with their gigantic garden (heated and covered), which is amazing when not resembling a crèche. On repeated visits, the snug was a prime viewing spot for the weekend football, no longer showing, due to lack of interest and an ownership change. Which is a shame. But nothing is too much trouble for the staff who work here, a refreshing positivity that we all sorely need.It feels like it's split into 4-5 areas, the stunning sky lights dominating the two main restaurant spaces, the booth filled kitchen fronted area usually occupied by swaths of families, and front area with a few TVs taken up by a much more varied crowd. It used to get full on weekends, but I've not seen it too busy for a while.Beer wise it's the usual Young's suspects. Young's Ales and Neck-Oil on tap seem to be the go-tos mixed among the macro lagers. Hepcat is a nice addition, as well as a varied alcohol-free range. The Spring Grove was probably responsible for over half my consumed Neck Oils a few years ago, which now seem to mostly taste like soap wherever I go.Food, it's pub fare but very good. Proper hefty portions, filling and tasty. Christmas day menu was a belter when we were still mid-covid. I could bang on for days about the pigs in blankets in yorkshires.History wise there's not a whole lot distinctly notable, but it's still *old*. The venue itself dates back to 1896, as part of the Spring Grove estate developed by Mr Palmer Porter, designed as an area with affordable homes for those working in Kingston. There's a real community feeling here that is written about in most references to the area, it does feel like a space with its own identity.Young's have a real talent for making pubs "nice", and this is one of the nicest. Despite the majority of this review being adapted from over a year ago, I still love coming here, and recommend you do too if you're in the area.

Hosted our engagement party over the weekend. Words cannot describe how lovely the staff were towards us. They were tentative, caring and generous. I would highly recommend this venue for any function and will be using them in the future. Thank you to all the staff and management! 5* service

Have visited a few times, and haven't had a bad experience yet. Food is delicious and the garden is perfect for just relaxing in on a sunny afternoon. The only downside is that it is on the pricey side, and it slightly out of the way if you are not from the area

My husband didn't order the Sunday roast as he said "pubs don't do good roasties". Well, he was very wrong! He spent the entire meal with food envy. His fish and chips were delicious but the roast was spectacular. Thank you Spring Grove! Glad to have you around the corner from us. We are new to the area and will definitely make your place our regular.Kid-friendliness: Lovely outdoor garden

We’ve been here once before with friends a few years ago and decided to come back as we had a good experience then. We had Sunday roasts this time which were superb. Special honours to the beef and the Yorkshire puddings! Our 7 year old child opted for fish and chips which he polished off without complaint. Some of the furnishings / decor look a little dated but it didn’t bother us, in fact it kind of felt in keeping with the informal, chilled vibe of the place. Will definitely be back for a third time very soon.

I am so grateful to the team at The Spring Grove for hosting us after the cremation service for my lovely Dad. The garden is really beautiful and the staff are brilliant. They even did excellent cocktails for us
