They don't do much in the way of gluten free options but what they do is fab! Had the most amazing gluten free apple and custard muffin recently, and very reasonably priced.

Had went in to order a birthday cake but did not know exactly what I wanted, the lady (didn’t get her name) who was helping me was so lovely and really took her time to make sure i was happy with my decision. Also let me in after closing because I was late to pick up the cake. Absolute angel. Oh and the cake was perfect ?

I bought a 50th birthday cake for my wife’s 50th birthday party. Everything was made to plan and I collected on the planned day. The cake looked the business unfortunately when we came to cutting and eating the cake everyone just stopped and looked at each other. The cake was absolutely disgusting. It was greasy and stodgy and tasted vile. I took the cake back to Coughlans and it was sent back to head office whereby it was inspected and found to have the wrong ingredients. They issued me a refund but unfortunately the episode has left some disappointment as we cannot recapture that moment. We have bought cakes before for birthdays and our wedding which have all been very good but this was a real let down. When you spend just short of £100 on a cake you expect someone to put some effort in to make sure it is perfect, clearly there is no quality checks and this was for a special occasion. We will probably still use Coughlans for bread etc but will never buy a birthday cake or such like again from them. My advice Is to go to a cake specialist or just go to M&S.

I adore this bakery and the bread is amazing, but the employees don’t use gloves when handling the bread! It’s completely disgusting! I just bought a loaf of bread this morning and watched the employee WIPE HER NOSE and then grab the loaf I ordered. So nasty.

I think the staff in Caterham on the hill and the one in Oxted need training on Diversity because I’ve experienced uneccesary hostility and poor customer service in these two bakeries. I think they are accustomed to catering to a certain demographic so if you’re not the typical i.e.if you’re a BAME like myself you get uncalled for hostility. I’ve experienced this on two separate occasions in the afore mentioned locations.

Over priced chain with mediocre quality products. On the odd occasion they do sell anything good ( like the bbq chicken and jalapeno melt) its only on sale for a week, then vanishes never to be seen again. The staff are always friendly and happy to help, but I fear that if it weren't for the fact that it's the closest thing we have to a real bakers locally, I'm sure they'd have gone bust years ago.

It is not often I write a review, but felt that I needed to after buying an eccles cake today. I have to say it was awful. Eccles cakes should be full of currants in puff pastry, with a addition of spices. The interior of this cake was something akin to sawdust, overly spiced, with a total currant count of 3. Yes I sifted through the sawdust to find them. Would certainly never have one of these ever again from this bakery
