A brilliant chippy, with an incredible choice! We were passing through Hale and called in as had a real craving for Fish and Chips. WA14 really satisfied our need! Delicious and freshly cooked, the Cod was meaty and full of fresh flavour, and there was a generous offering of chips. Thank you!

The best fish and chips ever. And they have tartare sauce as standard. The deep fried mac and cheese bites are heaven. Happy service and top notch food. I always have cod and chips but my other half ordered the chicken burger and loved it. Never have to wait long either. Fab on all counts.

I visited this place because of the first google review and just went for it and I must say that I was very pleased with my decision. Just ordered regular fish and chips and omg me and my husband just wanted more ☺️ their chips are so delicious and crispy and very high quality cod. I honestly have never had a small portion of chips hat have been so bad… so bad I haven’t bothered to eat them! £3 lost is no issue but how can you serve up such bad chips? They tasted like frozen chips.. they had to have been left there and certainly were not fresh, some burnt some not and coloured differently showing that they had been sat there for a bit of time. Really disappointing.
Perfect. Must have been one of the first customers and today had another serving. Quality has never differed! Thanks :)

I read their website about raising the bar and standard of fish and chips. They fall very short of the existing one. Small portion of fish and was soggy as were the chips Do not recommend really

Since the quality of Alty fish bar has taken a nosedive in recent years, me and my mum have been trying in vain to find a decent, consistent local chippy. My first time trying WA14 and as a vegetarian was really pleased to see battered halloumi in the menu. My mum was really pleased with her fish and chips, despite the high price. I was happy with the chips, the best I've had in the area for years and a good mixture of larger and smaller crispy ones. However the battered halloumi was terrible. Instead of cutting it the normal way, the halloumi was cut across into really thin slices, which meant the batter was thicker than the cheese. Unlike the fish which had crispy batter, the halloumi batter was greasy and soggy and was sitting in a pool of oil. I couldnt finish it and was left with a horrible oily taste all evening.Very frustrating they could get the fish batter so right, but the halloumi so wrong. I will try WA14 again, but will just have chips and avoid the halloumi

I picked up a takeaway recently and it was absolutely delicious! The quality is the best in the area and there was no problem with the wait time. Would recommend.
